Zack Littell allowed one run with one strikeout over 3 2/3 innings of relief in a win against the Brewers on Sunday.
PJ Poulin served as the opener for the Nationals on Sunday against Milwaukee, tossing two scoreless innings before handing it over to Littell. Littell followed with 3 2/3 innings of work, giving up one run on one walk and a hit. He struck out one. The 30-year-old right-hander ends the day with a 7.24 ERA, 1.61 WHIP, and a 17/12 K/BB ratio across 32 1/3 innings. He lines up for his next outing against the Marlins in Miami on Saturday.
Rutschman putting up 'star caliber' statistics
James Schiano breaks down Adley Rutschman's performance in his six games since returning for the Orioles from the IL, in which he has put up an impressive performance with four home runs and 14 RBIs.
  • MIL Starting Pitcher #43
Logan Henderson allowed two runs and struck out eight batters over six innings in a loss against the Nationals on Sunday.
Henderson was excellent in his first start of the season for the Brewers, holding the Nationals scoreless through four innings before three hits brought two runs in to score in the fifth. Henderson would pitch one more scoreless frame, striking out eight on nine whiffs. He’ll face a tough matchup at home against the Yankees on Saturday.
  • PIT Center Fielder #15
Oneil Cruz smacked a go-ahead RBI single in the eighth inning on Sunday afternoon, propelling the Pirates to a hard-fought 1-0 victory over the visiting Reds.
The Pirates finally put something together in the eighth as Konnor Griffin laced a two-out double to center and Jake Mangum drew a walk. Cruz followed by lining a 1-2 fastball from Tony Santillan into center to give them a 1-0 lead. That would be all the scoring for both sides in the ballgame. Cruz finished the day 2-for-4 and is now hitting .264/.322/.500 with nine homers, 28 RBI and 11 stolen bases.
  • TEX Right Fielder #24
Brandon Nimmo is back in the Rangers lineup as a DH for Sunday Night Baseball against the Tigers.
Nimmo missed Saturday’s game with a nagging hamstring injury. Since he’s DHing, that means Joc Pederson is out of the lineup tonight. Andrew McCutchen is starting in the outfield for the third time this season.
  • PIT Relief Pitcher #31
Gregory Soto picked up his third victory of the season on Sunday afternoon, retiring all four hitters that he faced against the Reds.
Soto came on with runners at the corners and two outs in the eighth inning of a scoreless game and got T.J. Friedl to strike out to end the threat. After the Pirates scored to take the lead in the home half of the eighth, he returned to close it out for himself in the ninth, retiring the side in order including a punchout of Dane Myers. On the season, the 31-year-old southpaw holds a stellar 1.59 ERA, 0.71 WHIP and a 23/6 K/BB ratio over his first 17 innings while notching one save and three victories.
  • PIT Starting Pitcher #35
Braxton Ashcraft was terrific in a tough-luck no-decision against the Reds on Sunday, scattering four hits over 7 2/3 innings of shutout baseball.
Ashcraft punched out six batters on the afternoon while issuing a pair of free passes. He got 10 swings and misses on 82 pitches on the day, registering a strong CSW of 33 percent. The 26-year-old hurler has been a tremendous addition to the Pirates’ rotation this season, posting a 3.02 ERA, 1.08 WHIP and a 45/14 K/BB ratio across his first 41 2/3 innings. It’s criminal that he has just one victory to show for it. He’ll do battle against the Giants his next time out in San Francisco on Saturday.
  • CIN Catcher #35
Jose Trevino went 1-for-3 with a double as the Reds were shut out by the Pirates on Sunday afternoon in Pittsburgh.
As a team, the Reds tallied just four hits in the ballgame, with Trevino’s double being one of just two that went for extra bases. He’s having a miserable season offensively, slashing .158/.200/.211 with zero RBI in his first 20 plate appearances.
  • CIN Starting Pitcher #26
Chase Burns delivered an outstanding performance in a no-decision against the Pirates on Sunday, racking up seven strikeouts over seven scoreless frames.
The 23-year-old hurler allowed just three hits and one walk in the ballgame. Unfortunately for Burns and his fantasy managers, the Reds were unable to scratch out a single run of support for him and he had to settle for a no-decision. He piled up 18 swings and misses on 94 pitches on the day — 12 of those on his slider — while registering a strong CSW of 33 percent. He’ll carry an impressive 2.20 ERA, 1.02 WHIP and a 46/13 K/BB ratio (41 innings) into Friday’s battle against the Astros.
  • MIN 2nd Baseman #15
Luke Keaschall went 2-for-4 with a pair of doubles, an RBI and a run scored as the Twins eked out a 4-3 victory over the Blue Jays on Sunday afternoon.
Keashall smacked an RBI double in the fifth inning that increased the Twins’ advantage to 2-0. He then came around to score on a run-scoring double off the bat of Kody Clemens. He’s having a rough time overall at the dish this season, slashing an underwhelming .223/.280/.300 with one homer, 15 RBI and seven stolen bases in 143 plate appearances.
  • MIN Relief Pitcher #48
Justin Topa served up a two-run homer in the ninth inning on Sunday, but managed to escape with a save in a one-run victory over the Blue Jays.
Topa came on with a comfortable 4-1 lead to protect in the ninth, but things tightened up quickly as Kazuma Okamoto crushed a one-out, two-run homer to make it a one-run game. Vladimir Guerrero Jr. and Jesus Sanchez then followed with singles to put the tying run in scoring position before Lenyn Sosa bounced into a game-ending double play. Trying to speculate on save chances in the Twins’ bullpen is a fool’s errand.
