Jacob Young (back) is in the lineup for Saturday’s game against the Cubs.
Young returns to Washington’s lineup for the first time since exiting Tuesday’s game with back spasms. The 26-year-old is back in center field and batting ninth against Chicago left-hander Matthew Boyd.
  • DET Shortstop #38

Tigers designated INF Zack Short for assignment.
The 31-year-old glove-first shortstop slashed a woeful .167/.304/.222 with zero homers, two RBI and a 12/7 K/BB ratio in 46 plate appearances with the Tigers. It’s possible that he could land with another team that’s interested in a quality defender as infield depth.
'Fire up' Skubal after quick recovery from injury
Returning from a remarkably quick recovery timeline, Tarik Skubal takes the mound once again this weekend. James Schiano shares what fantasy managers should expect from one of the game's true aces.
  • DET Relief Pitcher #40
Tigers selected the contract of RHP Jacob Waguespack from Triple-A Toledo.
The 32-year-old hurler returns to the big leagues for the first time since the 2024 campaign. Waguespack, who was acquired from the Brewers on Wednesday, had posted a 1.66 ERA, 1.20 WHIP and a 33/15 K/BB ratio over 21 2/3 innings at Triple-A Nashville. Expect him to function in a middle relief role for the Tigers.
  • DET Relief Pitcher #4
Tigers optioned RHP Beau Brieske to Triple-A Toledo.
Brieske has been knocked around in his four appearances with the Tigers this season, posting a 12.46 ERA, 2.31 WHIP and a 4/4 K/BB ratio over 4 1/3 innings. He’ll look to get back on track at the Triple-A level. Jacob Waguespack was promoted from Triple-A in a corresponding move on Friday.
  • DET Relief Pitcher #75
Tigers optioned RHP Brenan Hanifee to Triple-A Toledo.
With Kenley Jansen returning from the injured list on Friday, someone needed to get the boot from the Tigers’ bullpen and Hanifee was the odd man out this time around. The 28-year-old hurler has done a decent job in his time with the Tigers this season, posting a 3.29 ERA, 1.39 WHIP and a 6/4 K/BB ratio over 13 2/3 innings.
  • DET Relief Pitcher #74
Tigers activated RHP Kenley Jansen from the 15-day injured list.
The 38-year-old hurler has been shelved for the past couple of weeks due to a groin issue. He should step right back in as the Tigers’ primary closer with Will Vest shifting back to a setup role.
  • AZ Left Fielder #10
Diamondbacks activated OF Jordan Lawlar off the 60-day injured list.
Ryan Waldschmidt and Tommy Troy are both playing almost every day of late, but we’d guess Lawlar’s lineup plans involve going through Troy in left field. Lawlar had hit .333/.400/.556 in 20 plate appearances before fracturing his wrist in April. One of the better prospects in the sport over the past few years, fantasy managers would be wise to keep an eye on Lawlar. The fact that he qualifies at third base in most leagues doesn’t hurt either.
  • AZ Catcher #66
Diamondbacks designated C Aramis Garcia for assignment.
The 33-year-old will likely return to Triple-A Reno if he clears waivers. Garcia served as an emergency depth piece while James McCann was out. The Diamondbacks appear to think they can get by with Adrian Del Castillo as their backup catcher in the short term.
  • PHI Right Fielder #39
Phillies placed OF Steward Berroa on the paternity list.
Congrats to Berroa on his new job. The Phillies will get by with a different bench outfielder for the time being.
  • PHI Right Fielder #85
Phillies recalled OF Gabriel Rincones Jr. from Triple-A Lehigh Valley.
Rincones has hit just .215/.344/.291 between three Phillies affiliates this year after injuring his knee during the offseason. He was just activated off rehab assignment on May 26. This feels aggressive, and Rincones may only play against left-handers, but the Phillies will see if they can find lightning in a bottle here. Rincones doesn’t need to be a priority fantasy baseball pickup.
  • PHI Right Fielder #53
Phillies placed OF Adolis García on the 60-day injured list with a right latissimus dorsi tear.
The instant elevation to the 60-day IL means we won’t see García again until the later stages of the season, if at all. He hit .195/.270/.329 with seven homers and three stolen bases for the Phillies in 259 plate appearances. Derek Hill’s acquisition seemed to signal that García was due for an IL stint, but the long-term nature of it means Hill will likely carry his role for most of the rest of the season.
