Adam Mazur allowed two unearned runs and only one hit in six innings Sunday against the Tigers.
Incredibly, the Marlins committed three errors on one play in the second, as Eric Wagaman botched Colt Keith’s grounder to first with one on, sending it past the bag and into foul territory. Maximo Acosta picked up the ball and tried to retire Spencer Torkelson at third, only for the ball to get away again. Left fielder Troy Johnston was charged with the third error after having the ball get by him in the outfield. Torkelson scored on the play, and Keith, who wound up at third, came across afterwards after Mazur allowed his lone hit. It’s Mazur’s first quality start since he had one in his big-league debut for the Padres on June 4 of last season. He’s 0-4 with a 4.85 ERA in his five starts for the Marlins this season. He’ll face the Rangers next weekend.
