That has come with two home runs, 14 runs scored, and three steals, so he’s certainly not a player you need to roster in most fantasy formats. Jacob Young will start in center field and bat ninth in Game 1.

McCutchen’s time with the Rangers is over after hitting just .192 (14-for-73) with one homer and five RBI over 37 games. The 39-year-old veteran is pretty much limited to DH as a short-side platoon option at this advanced stage of his legendary career. There might be an opportunity for him on a contending team as an invaluable clubhouse presence, but his run as an impactful fantasy contributor ended years ago.

After getting no-hit for seven innings by Dustin May, the Brewers picked up all three of their hits in a five-batter span in the eighth. Yelich made it a 1-1 game, and the Brewers went ahead afterwards on Masyn Winn’s error on a grounder from Jackson Chrourio. Yelich led off today for the second game in a row after batting cleanup in his first seven games back from the IL. He’s hitting .280/.337/.484 with 16 runs scored and 16 RBI through 25 games on the season.

Patrick’s last five appearances have seen him pitch one inning for a hold, four innings for a save, one-third of an inning for a hold, 1 1/3 innings for a save and now this four-inning start. He’ll probably head back to the pen this weekend, but he seems to get the job done however he’s used. he has a 2.60 ERA in 45 innings on the season.

Abner Uribe went unused today after his controversial gestures at the conclusion of Tuesday’s game. Aaron Ashby ended up with the win after working scoreless seventh and eighth innings, and Megill closed things out despite a one-out single and a steal from Masyn Winn. Since giving up seven runs in a two-appearance span in mid-April, Megill has a 1.29 ERA and an 18/2 K/BB in his last 14 innings of work. Still, Uribe likely remains the favorite for saves in Milwaukee.

May struck out nine in seven brilliant innings, but the eighth started with a Garrett Mitchell liner for a double with the Cardinals up by just one. A better left fielder than Bryan Torres might have caught the ball, but Torres had it go over his head. Luis Rengifo then put down a bunt and neither May nor third baseman Nolan Gorman attempted to make a play on it, turning the sacrifice into a hit. That ended May’s day, and the Brewers went on to score both runners with Jojo Romero on the mound. May fell to 3-6 despite having his most impressive outing since 2023. He’ll next face the Rangers on Tuesday.

Reaching on catcher’s interference is half of Frelick’s game at this point. He’s done it five times this year, effectively giving him a .307 OBP instead of his actual .289 mark. Frelick hasn’t lost any playing time since Christian Yelich’s return has crowded the Brewers’ first base/outfield/DH situations, but that might become a possibility at some point. His OPS is sitting at .590, and his defensive metrics have also taken a hit this year. Both versions of WAR have him as slightly below replacement level to date.

It’s a nice spot for Sandlin to break into the majors after a dominant run at Triple-A Charlotte where he posted a sparkling 0.75 ERA and 17/6 K/BB ratio across 12 innings. The 25-year-old top prospect, who came over from the Red Sox in the Jordan Hicks salary dump earlier this year, is unlikely to work deep into the contest, but he’s going to miss enough bats to be an interesting streaming option in deeper mixed leagues.

Lee is making his sixth consecutive start at the hot corner as Minnesota appears to be preparing for the inevitable arrival of 2024 first-round pick Kaelen Culpepper as their shortstop of the future. The 23-year-old top prospect is hitting .247/.349/.473 with 11 homers and 11 steals in 218 plate appearances over 46 games for Triple-A St. Paul this season. Lee’s transition to third base seems to signal that the Twins are likely done with Royce Lewis as a long-term option at the position. It’s a stunning development given how potent Lewis looked as a burgeoning offensive force earlier in his career before injuries derailed his promising career.

Kody Clemens will make his first career start in center field with Buxton limited to DH for the sixth time in his last seven games since returning from a hip issue that cost him five games earlier this month. It’s a bit unclear when he’ll be ready to return to center field, but the positive for fantasy managers is that he’s remained in the lineup.

Dunn occupies Cincinnati’s leadoff spot for the fifth straight contest and is slashing .311/.380/.467 with one homer, two RBI and two steals in 15 games since coming up from Triple-A Louisville. There’s nothing in the 27-year-old’s extensive track record in the upper minors that suggests he’s be a highly impactful fantasy contributor as a power/speed combo threat, but he’s likely to remain a strong batting average source based on his ability to maintain a high BABIP thanks to his athleticism. There’s some limited fantasy appeal in deeper mixed leagues, especially if he’s going to stick in the leadoff spot ahead of Cincinnati’s middle-of-the-order mashers.
