Agustín Ramírez went 1-for-4 with two stolen bases and a run scored on Friday against the Mets.
Ramírez swiped both bases in a strange sequence during the fifth inning when the Mets let him take each uncontested. Nevertheless, he has proven to be a unicorn as a catcher who can run. These two bags pushed his total to 16 on the season in 134 games played to go along with 21 home runs. You can feel his ADP creeping up by the moment with every base that he steals.

Red Sox’ manager Alex Cora told reporters on Monday that Romy Gonzalez (shoulder) is still limited to playing catch.
The 29-year-old has yet to be cleared to perform any other baseball activities as he battles shoulder inflammation. It sounds increasingly likely that Gonzalez will open the season on the injured list.
Carroll, Lindor, Holliday all injure hamate bones
Eric Samulski dives into the rash of hamate bone injuries affecting MLB stars, sharing the latest news regarding Corbin Carroll, Jackson Holliday and Francisco Lindor, who all will miss time with hamate bone injuries.
  • STL Infield
Cardinals designated INF Bryan Ramos or assignment.
Ramos was claimed off of waivers from the Orioles in early February, but he gets the boot from the Cardinals’ 40-man roster to make room for the addition of Zak Kent on Monday. Ramos has already changed teams a couple of times since the end of the 2025 season and he could once again attract interest on waivers.
  • STL Relief Pitcher #61
Cardinals claimed RHP Zak Kent off of waivers from the Rangers.
The 27-year-old right-hander had been designated for assignment by the Rangers over the weekend. Kent registered a 4.58 ERA, 1.42 WHIP and a 16/8 K/BB ratio over 17 2/3 innings in 12 appearances with the Guardians in 2025. Given the current makeup of the Cardinals’ bullpen, he should have a decent shot at cracking the Opening Day roster as long as he doesn’t implode during Grapefruit League play.
  • NYY Right Fielder #35
Yankees sent OF Yanquiel Fernandez outright to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.
The 23-year-old outfielder passed through waivers unclaimed and will remain with the Yankees. He’ll stay in big league camp as a non-roster invitee where he’ll get to showcase his power against Grapefruit League competition.
  • NYY Infield #11
Anthony Volpe (shoulder) began his hitting program by taking dry swings on Monday.
It’s the first time that the 24-year-old shortstop has swung a bat since undergoing surgery to repair a torn labrum in his shoulder. The Yankees are already expecting to be without Volpe for all of April, so they’re going to let him take his time as he progresses through his recovery. Jose Caballero is expected to see the bulk of the action at shortstop while Volpe is shelved.
  • PHI Pitcher #45
Zack Wheeler (shoulder) played catch from a distance of 120 feet on Monday as he continues to progress in his recovery from thoracic outlet surgery.
The Phillies are taking a cautious approach with the 35-year-old hurler and the expectation is that he’ll open the season on the injured list. It’s unclear how much time into the regular season he may miss though and if we don’t wind up seeing him at all in Grapefruit League action, it’ll be tough for fantasy managers to know what to expect from Wheeler to open the 2026 season.
  • SEA Pitcher #23
Mariners placed RHP Logan Evans on the 60-day injured list.
Evans is in the process of recovering from Tommy John surgery that he underwent in January and will miss the entire 2026 season. This was merely done as a procedural move to free up a spot on the team’s 40-man roster for the addition of left-hander Josh Simpson on Monday.
  • SEA Relief Pitcher #66
Mariners acquired LHP Josh Simpson from the Marlins for cash considerations.
The 28-year-old southpaw had been designated for assignment by the Marlins earlier in the week, so they were willing to flip him for anything that they could get at this stage. Simpson posted a troublesome 7.34 ERA, 1.83 WHIP and a 36/22 K/BB ratio over 30 2/3 innings in his first taste of big league action in 2025.
  • MIN Pitcher #49
Pablo López will head for imaging on his pitching elbow after his live batting practice session was cut short on Monday due to soreness.
Some soreness is to be expected early in spring camp, and the Twins are calling it completely precautionary, but you never want to hear about pitchers needing to get imaging done on their elbow. All Twins’ fans and fantasy managers can do now is wait and hope for the best. Look for the Twins to provide an update on the right-hander’s status as soon as more information becomes available.
  • LAD 3rd Baseman #4
Dodgers signed INF Santiago Espinal to a minor league contract with an invitation to spring training.
The 31-year-old infielder hit an underwhelming .242/.292/.282 with zero home runs, 16 RBI, two stolen bases and a 38/21 K/BB ratio across 328 plate appearances with the Reds. Espinal will add infield depth for the Dodgers with Tommy Edman (ankle) slated to open the season on the injured list.
