David Peterson was hit hard in Thursday night’s loss to the Giants, giving up six runs (five earned) on nine hits over his 4 1/3 innings of work.
The 30-year-old left-hander struck out five batters on the night while issuing a pair of free passes. The Giants got to him early and often in this one, striking for three runs in the opening inning including an RBI triple by Luis Arraez. They also scratched out another pair of runs in the third inning and added another while chasing Peterson in the fifth. He generated eight swings and misses on 68 pitches on the night, posting a strong CSW of 34 percent. He’ll attempt to put this one behind him and get back on track as he carries a 4.66 ERA, 1.97 WHIP and an 8/4 K/BB ratio (9 2/3 innings) into Wednesday’s matchup against the Diamondbacks.
