White Sox sent OFs Dominic Fletcher and Corey Julks and RHPs Elvis Peguero and Owen White to Triple-A Charlotte.

It’s merely offseason housekeeping for the White Sox. Fletcher and Julks are the prominent names here as the tandem figure to draw some interest as depth outfielders on the open market after they elect free agency. Peguero made only two appearances for Chicago after being claimed off waivers from the Brewers before suffering a season-ending elbow strain.

Tigers recalled RHP Brenan Hanifee from Triple-A Toledo.

Hopefully Hanifee didn’t actually make the trip from West Sacramento to Toledo after being optioned out on Friday night, as he’ll rejoin the big league club to take the place of Tarik Skubal after the star southpaw was dealt to the Dodgers. He’ll stick around for at least a few days while the Tigers figure out how to handle the void in their starting rotation.
Takeaways from massive Skubal trade to Dodgers
Eric Samulski breaks down the Tarik Skubal trade to the Los Angeles Dodgers late Saturday night, providing the outlook for both the Dodgers and Detroit Tigers after this blockbuster deal.

Tigers acquired RHP Brady Smith, OF Zyhir Hope and RHP River Ryan from the Dodgers for LHP Tarik Skubal.

Smith isn’t just a throw-in in this mega-deal with the Dodgers, he’s a very intriguing talent in his own right. The 21-year-old right-hander was the Dodgers’ third-round selection from the 2025 draft class. In his first full season of minor league ball he has posted a 4.36 ERA, 1.24 WHIP and a 113/30 K/BB ratio over 74 1/3 innings in 21 starts between Single-A Ontario and High-A Great Lakes. He’s probably a couple of years away from being an option to help the Tigers, but the strikeout potential in this right-handed arm is massive. He’ll begin his Tigers’ career at Single-A West Michigan.

Tigers acquired RHP River Ryan, OF Zyhir Hope and RHP Brady Smith from the Dodgers for LHP Tarik Skubal.

Ryan ranks as the 68th best prospect in baseball according to MLB Pipeline, which opinions on the right-hander’s worth landing all over the board. At 27, he’s a bit old for a prospect, but only made the full-time transition to the mound in 2022 and underwent Tommy John surgery in 2025. He possesses next-level stuff and if he’s able to stay healthy his ceiling projects as a top of the rotation starter at the MLB level. He’ll begin his Tigers’ tenure on the injured list at Triple-A Toledo as he continues to recover from a hamstring strain, but he could find his way into the big league rotation before the end of August.

Tigers acquired OF Zyhir Hope and RHPs River Ryan and Brady Smith from the Dodgers for LHP Tarik Skubal.

Hope headlines the return package for the Tigers. The 21-year-old outfielder ranks as the 25th best prospect in baseball according to MLB Pipeline. He has had an outstanding season at the Double-A level, slashing .293/.369/.530 with 23 homers, 87 RBI, 18 stolen bases and a 106/45 K/BB ratio over 425 plate appearances. He’ll begin his Tigers’ tenure at Double-A Erie, but it wouldn’t be surprising to see him move up to Triple-A Toledo before season’s end. He should make an impact at the big league level in 2027.

Dodgers acquired LHP Tarik Skubal from the Tigers for OF Zyhir Hope and RHPs River Ryan and Brady Smith.

The blockbuster deal which was reported late Saturday evening is now official. The two-time reigning American League Cy Young award winner joins an already star-studded Dodgers’ rotation as they look to make history by winning their third consecutive World Series title. It remains to be seen whether the Dodgers will be able to lock up the impending free agent long-term, but it would now be a catastrophic failure on their end if they don’t wind up winning another title. Skubal’s already sky-high fantasy value improves with the move to Los Angeles as he’s much more likely to rack up victories than he had been with the Tigers’ faulty bullpen working behind him.

Hunter Goodman is not in the Rockies’ starting lineup for Sunday afternoon’s tilt against the Royals.

On the surface, it appears to be nothing more than a routine day off for Goodman, but with trade rumors swirling around, perhaps they’re just taking an extra precaution in case someone is willing to match the “extremely high” price tag that has been placed on the prized slugger. Brett Sullivan will do the catching for the Rockies and bat eighth against Royals’ right-hander Seth Lugo.

Paul Goldschmidt is absent from the Yankees’ starting lineup for Sunday’s series finale against the Cubs in Chicago.

The 38-year-old slugger will get a day off with right-hander Colin Rea toeing the slab for the Cubs in this one. Amed Rosario will function as the team’s designated hitter and will bat third for the Bombers on Sunday afternoon.

Nicky Lopez is not in the Rangers’ starting lineup for Sunday’s series finale against the Astros.

Lopez will get a breather after starting every other game for the Rangers during the week. Cam Cauley will start in his place at second base and will bat ninth for the Rangers against Astros’ right-hander Peter Lambert on Sunday.

White Sox’ manager Will Venable confirmed Sunday that Erick Fedde will be moved to the team’s bullpen following Saturday’s addition of Luis Castillo.

Fedde pitched well in a victory over the Rays his last time out, allowing just one run over five innings while punching out six batters. He’ll now shift to a long relief role as the White Sox try to make a push towards their first postseason berth since 2021.

Mets selected the contract of RHP Bryce Conley from Double-A Binghampton.

Conley, 31, has made 20 appearances (18 starts) between Double-A Binghampton and Triple-A Syracuse this season, compiling a miserable 5.89 ERA, 1.51 WHIP and a 90/47 K/BB ratio across 91 2/3 innings. He adds a fresh arm capable of working multiple innings to the Mets’ bullpen.
