The 27-year-old outfielder was designated for assignment earlier in the week by the Orioles. After a terrific minor league campaign in 2024, León was limited to just 25 minor league contests in 2025 due to injury. In his limited time, he slashed .253/.314/.505 with six homers and 15 RBI in only 106 plate appearances. With a strong showing in the spring, he could compete for a reserve spot on the Phillies’ Opening Day roster.

A year ago, Grissom Jr. was in the Futures Game. Now he’s looking for a new team. The 25-year-old had breezed through the minor leagues before struggling in Triple-A last season. He was sent back to Double-A this season and has posted a 6.06 ERA in 16 1/3 innings. There will be another team that takes a chance on him as a developmental prospect.

Dotel has a 5.06 ERA in 26 2/3 innings with the Pirates this season. The 23-year-old has slowed down after the impressive beginning to his MLB career, but the future is still bright for him out of the bullpen.

Sisk had been a highly productive reliever for the Pirates before landing on the injured list with elbow inflammation on July 4th.

Ten days away from rehab games would likely mean about three weeks away from returning to the Rangers. That’s a bit longer than was originally anticipated after he was put on the injured list with a left calf strain. There’s still hope that Jung will be back before the end of August, but the uncertainty makes it harder to hold onto him in fantasy leagues where you have no IL spots.

Schumaker was not clear about the role that Montgomery would have, saying he could work as a starter or reliever. Montgomery has not pitched in an MLB game since 2024, so we’re not expecting tremendous results right away. You can take a wait-and-see approach in fantasy leagues.

This is becoming a recurring trend for Arias in recent games. Maybe the Red Sox are just looking to see how flexible he can be defensively, or maybe they’re trying to see how Arias would handle second base in September if/when Trevor Story (sports hernia) comes back to take the shortstop job in Boston.

This is a bit of a shocker. Arias is 26 years old and has slashed .219/.275/.359 in 1,168 MLB plate appearances, so he has had plenty of opportunities. However, he also has a career 10 percent barrel rate and 43 percent hard-hit rate with a 75 mph bat speed and 90.3 mph average exit velocity. He has also been an average to above-average defender at second base, third base, and shortstop. There has been far too much swing and miss in his game, but it would not surprise us if somebody claims him on waivers and tries to see if they can help him remedy that.

This move was reported late on Tuesday night and is now official. Genao is hitting .300/.401/.474 with 13 home runs and 11 steals in 96 games in the upper minors this season. The 22-year-old also has a 45 percent hard-hit rate and 92.4 percent zone contact rate with just a seven percent swinging strike rate, so this is an interesting profile. He pulls the ball on the ground a lot, so there may not be tons of home runs early on, but that could help his overall batting average. For now, Jose Ramirez is not headed to the injured list, so it remains to be seen how often Genao will play in Cleveland.

McCalvy reports that the Brewers’ initial proposal “was also three prospects, according to sources. All three were hitters, and at least two were Top 100 prospects.” While McCalvy is unsure exactly which three names were in the final proposal, he reports that “one of them was shortstop Luis Peña,” who is the18th-ranked prospect on MLB Pipeline’s Top 100. This season, Peña is hitting .308/.396/.447 in 45 games between Single-A and High-A with two home runs, 19 RBI, and 22 steals. The Brewers must have been comfortable enough with the recent performance of Cooper Pratt to deal Peña, but the Tigers went in another direction. Perhaps they preferred Zyhir Hope’s upside or wanted a pitching prospect like River Ryan. Those are the answers we’re unlikely to ever get.

Seems like a routine day off for Díaz. Liam Hicks will play first base and Jonathan Aranda will DH. Victor Mesa Jr. will shift into the leadoff spot.
