Royals signed RHP John Schreiber to a one-year, $3.715 million deal to avoid arbitration.
Schreiber ate innings for the Royals out of the bullpen in 2025, posting a 3.80 ERA and 62/19 K/BB ratio in 64 innings. He has thrown over 50 innings in three of the last four seasons out of the bullpen, which gives him added value.

Cade Cavalli struck out ten Braves in five innings, allowing two runs on seven hits along the way.
He was brought out for the top of the sixth but quickly chased after a leadoff single. The Braves were able to string together four hits against him in the top of the fourth, including two doubles, but he allowed just four hard-hit balls. Cavalli was averaging 97.1 mph with the heater today and his knuckle curve had a 50 percent CSW rate. The game got away from the Nats late, leaving Cavalli with no shot at a win. He has now struck out 15 in his last nine innings and, though he’s mostly a streamer, the strikeout upside could play against the Mets next week.
Mets snap skid as Soto returns, Lindor exits
Fantasy managers should expect Juan Soto to return to his normal self after looking "great" in his return to the Mets lineup, where New York snapped its skid but lost Francisco Lindor to injury.
  • ATL Center Fielder #23
Braves OF Michael Harris II left Thursday’s game against the Nationals with left quad tightness.
Not good. Harris was pulled in the top of the eighth after going 3-for-4 with two RBIs against the Nationals bullpen. We expect to hear more about this in the next 24 hours, but we wouldn’t be surprised if this led to a stint on the injured list. Harris was hitting .318/.356/.565 in what has been a major bounceback season for both him and the Braves, with six homers and two stolen bases in his first 24 games.
  • NYM Relief Pitcher #44
Mets optioned RHP Austin Warren to Triple-A Syracuse.
Load this one up on the clipboard and save it for late. The 30-year-old reliever had a 5.40 ERA in two appearances with the Mets this year and will head back to Syracuse again to make room for Christian Scott’s call-up.
  • NYM Starting Pitcher #45
Mets recalled RHP Christian Scott from Triple-A Syracuse.
He’ll get the start today against the Twins. Scott managed a 5.27 ERA and a 17/2 K/BB ratio in 13 2/3 innings for the Syracuse Mets in the early going. The strikeout rate is worth getting excited about, but with Francisco Lindor now on the shelf, run support may be hard to come by in Queens. He’ll be a worthwhile stream in deeper leagues against the Twins tonight.
  • NYM 3rd Baseman #0
Mets recalled INF Ronny Mauricio from Triple-A Syracuse.
He should be in for a bigger role this time around with Francisco Lindor on the 10-day injured list. Mauricio was 1-for-4 with a walkoff RBI single in an earlier stint with the Mets and was hitting .293/.349/.638 in 63 plate appearance with Triple-A Syracuse. He’s never lacked for minor-league power, but the hit tool makes him a speculative pick-up at best in shallow leagues at this time. He’s batting eighth in today’s lineup for the Mets and playing shortstop with Bo Bichette at third base as usual.
  • NYM Shortstop #12
Mets placed Francisco Lindor on the 10-day injured list with a left calf strain.
It’s unclear how the Mets will juggle their lineup with Ronny Mauricio up as of this typing, but presumably he or Bo Bichette will take over at shortstop. It’s not great news for Lindor, but the Mets did manage to get Juan Soto back from a calf strain in a couple of weeks and that’s probably the initial timeline we’d believe in for Lindor barring more ominous news.
  • MIN 1st Baseman #13
Twins designated 1B/OF Eric Wagaman for assignment.
Wagaman, who hit .250/.296/.378 in 514 plate appearances for the Marlins last year, never got a real shot with the Twins as Austin Martin cut him off at the pass. He’s hit .159/.284/.254 for Triple-A St. Paul this year in 74 plate appearances. We’re guessing he’ll clear waivers.
  • MIN Relief Pitcher #82
Twins claimed RHP Christian Roa off waivers from the Astros; optioned him to Triple-A St. Paul.
The Astros DFAed Roa on Tuesday and he finds a new home on Thursday. Roa had a 5.19 ERA in seven appearances for the Astros this season, allowing runs in each of his last three appearances before being sent down, and walked seven batters against six strikeouts. The Twins continue to churn their pen and look for finds, we’ll see what they do with Roa in Triple-A.
  • BOS Right Fielder #19
Roman Anthony (back) is not in the starting lineup again on Thursday.
He’s been dealing with a sore back and now misses his second game in row. Masataka Yoshida is DHing and batting third for the Red Sox against the Yankees in Anthony’s absence.
  • BOS Starting Pitcher
Red Sox optioned LHP Eduardo Rivera to Triple-A Worcester.
Rivera threw 3.1 scoreless innings in his one appearance last night, but the usage made him the obvious pitcher to send down as the Red Sox called up Peyton Tolle to start on Thursday. Rivera should make a return engagement to the Red Sox in the near future.
