The 29-year-old is a .238/.287/.342 hitter with 15 homers and a 21.3 percent strikeout rate in 1,032 MLB plate appearances, but he can play a few positions around the infield and has been a solid minor league hitter over his career. He could provide infield depth at a few spots if he wins a minor league job.

Peralta made just one appearance during his time with the big league club, giving up two runs on two hits and a pair of walks in just 2/3 of an inning. Blas Castano was recalled from Triple-A Albuquerque to take his place in the Rockies’ bullpen.

Castano was recalled from Triple-A on Sunday, optioned back on Monday and now returns on Thursday as Brenton Doyle heads to the injured list. The 27-year-old hurler allowed just one run over 2 1/3 innings during his last brief stay with the Rockies. He’ll function in a middle relief role.

Doyle suffered the injury while attempting to make a diving play in center field during Tuesday’s contest against the Rangers. They attempted to take it day-to-day, but since he wasn’t improving quickly enough it made sense to sit him down for a bit and make sure that he heals properly. Chad Stevens was promoted from Triple-A Albuquerque to take his place on the Rockies’ active roster.

The 27-year-old infielder had been lighting the world on fire at the Triple-A level, slashing a blistering .362/.435/.523 with three homers, 25 RBI and six stolen bases in 168 plate appearances. He’ll start at second base and bat ninth for the Rockies on Thursday evening against Eduardo Rodriguez and the Diamondbacks.

Bichette strolled to the dish with the bases loaded in the third inning and poked a first-pitch knuckle curve from Cade Cavalli into center for a two-run single, giving the Mets an early advantage that they would never relinquish. That would be his only hit in four trips on the day. For the season, the 28-year-old infielder is slashing an underwhelming .225/.276/.328 with five homers and 27 RBI through his first 221 plate appearances with the Mets.

The 31-year-old hurler made it hard on himself in this one, allowing a leadoff double to Daylen Lile to put the tying run in scoring position, but he battled back to retire the next three hitters in order to preserve the game. Williams notched his seventh save of the season for his efforts. He now holds a 4.32 ERA and a 25/8 K/BB ratio across 16 2/3 innings on the season.

The 30-year-old southpaw walked three and struck out three on the afternoon. The lone blemish on his day came as Keibert Ruiz scampered home on a ground out in the fifth inning. Peterson got six whiffs on 82 pitches on the afternoon, posting an underwhelming CSW of just 24 percent. Now 3-4 on the season, he’ll tote a 5.03 ERA, 1.55 WHIP and a 49/20 K/BB ratio (48 1/3 innings) into Tuesday’s battle against the Reds.

Ruiz singled off of David Peterson in the second inning, but he was cut down attempting to steal second base. He then led off the fifth inning with a single and ultimately scored his club’s first run on a ground out off the bat of Andres Chapparo. That would be their only tally in the ballgame. For the season, the 27-year-old backstop is slashing a solid .260/.277/.500 with four homers, 22 RBI and one stolen base in 100 plate appearances.

Cavalli scattered just four hits and one walk on the day. All of the damage done against him came on a two-run single off the bat of Bo Bichette in the third inning. Unfortunately, that was enough to do him in in this one. The 27-year-old righty generated nine swings and misses on 84 pitches on the day, posting a CSW of 33 percent. He’ll try to get back in the win column as he carries a 3.86 ERA, 1.43 WHIP and a 61/19 K/BB ratio (53 2/3 innings) into Tuesday’s showdown against the Guardians in Cleveland.

The versatile 29-year-old landed on the injured list last week with a fractured finger and expressed confidence at that time that he would be ready to return when first eligible. That appears to be the case, though the Yankees may have to make a tough decision on the roster move to create a spot for him on the active roster.
