Dodgers designated LHP Anthony Banda for assignment.

The Dodgers needed a roster spot for Ben Rortvedt, so they will hope that Banda’s $1.65 million contract prevents anybody from claiming him on waivers. Of course, that gamble didn’t pay off with Rortvedt earlier in the offseason. Banda posted a 3.18 ERA in 65 innings for Los Angeles last season.

Jacob Misiorowski shut out the Braves for six innings in the Brewers’ 2-1 win Friday.

Misiorowski didn’t have his absolute best stuff today, averaging a mere 100.1 mph with his fastball, and recorded just six strikeouts for the second straight start. Still, he moved to 13-5 with a 1.68 ERA with his seventh scoreless start of the year. Unless the Brewers adjust their six-man rotation and move him up to Thursday against the Mets, he’ll face the Rangers at home next Friday.

The Seattle Mariners called up top pitching prospect Kade Anderson, who is expected to start against the Chicago Cubs this Saturday. Eric Samulski emphasizes why he should be added in all fantasy formats.

Trevor Megill pitched a scoreless ninth Friday against the Braves for his 24th save.

Megill’s nine-appearance hitless streak was snapped today with Mike Yastrzemski’s two-out single, but he followed that with a strikeout of Ronald Acuña Jr. to end the game. He’ll probably need Saturday off after working the last two days, potentially opening up a save chance for Aaron Ashby.

With the Braves going scoreless, Chris Sale lost to the Brewers after allowing two runs in six innings on Friday.

It’s the Braves’ second straight 2-0 loss with Sale on the mound, and the left-hander fell to 0-3 in August despite turning in quality starts each time out. He’ll take a 12-9 record and a 2.20 ERA into his next turn at home against the Rockies.

William Contreras went 4-for-4 and drove in one of the Brewers’ two runs in Friday’s win over the Braves.

He hit the ball hard every time up today, with his singles ranging from 97 mph to 108 mph off the bat. Contreras has followed up a string of six straight hitless contests by going 9-for-20 with a homer and a 2/3 K/BB in his last five games.

Mike Yastrzemski reached all four times up against the Brewers on Friday, going 2-for-2 with two walks.

Yastrzemski was 1-for-13 in his previous five games, so the Braves had him batting ninth today for the first time since June 23. Reaching four times might get him bumped back up to seventh on Saturday.

Drake Baldwin finished 0-for-4 with three strikeouts in a third straight hitless game Friday against the Brewers.

Baldwin is hitting .244/.280/321 in August, and his season OPS fell under .800 today. The Braves could try moving him down a few spots in the order until he resumes doing a better job of getting on base. The occasional day off against a lefty wouldn’t be a bad idea, either; he’s been in the Braves lineup as a catcher or DH every game since June 24.

Vladimir Guerrero Jr. (concussion) has rejoined the Blue Jays on Friday and is expected to be activated from the injured list prior to Saturday’s game.

Jays’ skipper John Schneider told reporters that the 27-year-old slugger has passed all of his concussion tests and has been cleared to return after going 1-for-1 with a double and a pair of walks in a minor league rehab game at High-A Dunedin on Thursday. Fantasy managers can anticipate having him back in lineups on Saturday.

Jo Adell (knee) is back in the Guardians’ starting lineup on Friday after missing two consecutive games with a sore knee.

Adell fouled a ball off of his knee on Tuesday and sat out the final two games of the team’s series against the Giants due to soreness. He’s feeling much improved on Friday though and will serve as the Guardians’ designated hitter at Coors Field against Rockies’ right-hander Tanner Gordon.

Chase DeLauter (hamstring) returned to the Guardians’ starting lineup for Friday night’s battle against the Rockies in Colorado.

DeLauter missed three straight games to start the week after suffering a hamstring injury on Sunday, but he’ll return just in time to take advantage of the premium hitting environment at Coors Field over the weekend. DeLauter is starting in right field and batting second against Rockies’ right-hander Tanner Gordon on Friday evening.

The Tigers have pushed back Keider Montero’s next start to next weekend.

Montero had been scheduled to start against the Rays on Monday, but he didn’t recover well after his last start so the team wants to give him some extra time to rest and recover. The club will also push Framber Valdez back from Sunday to Monday, with the team going with a bullpen game in Sunday’s series finale against the Royals in Kansas City.
