Andrew Fischer went 2-for-4 with a homer and two RBI as Team Italy defeated Great Britain 7-4 on Sunday.
Fischer, the Brewers’ first-round pick last year, didn’t play in Italy’s opener against Brazil, but he thrived today. Great Britain took a two-run lead in the first after Nate Eaton double and a Jazz Chisholm Jr. single before back-to-back homers from Fischer and J.J. D’Orazio tied it in the third. Fischer then gave Italy the lead with an RBI single in the fourth. Great Britain tried to make a game of it late, scoring twice in the eighth to make it 7-4 and loading the bases in the ninth, but Greg Weissert was able to pitch out of the jam and pick up the save.
