George Kirby racked up 10 strikeouts in Wednesday’s loss to the Orioles, allowing three runs on seven hits over six innings pitched.
Kirby walked three in the 104-pitch outing. His 10 punchouts mark a season high as the right-hander hadn’t previously struck out more than seven in a game this season. Kirby had made it through five scoreless before allowing three runs in the sixth, but he at least escaped with a quality start intact. He draws a rematch with the Orioles next time out, this one at home.

George Kirby allowed nine hits and five runs - four earned – with one walk and five strikeouts over four innings in a loss to the Mets on Wednesday.
Kirby’s struggles continue. The wheels fell off for him during an ugly fourth inning where he allowed the Mets’ eight and nine hitters to reach base before three hits and a double-steal helped bring home four runs. He wasn’t sharp otherwise either, as the Mets put at least one runner on in all four of his frames. His command on both his sinker and knuckle-curve were way worse than we’re used to seeing and he’s now given up 17 earned runs across 21 innings during his last four starts. He’ll have a chance to get back on track next week against the Orioles.

George Kirby allowed four runs over 5 1/3 innings while not factoring in the decision Friday against the Diamondbacks.
Kirby had no issues over the first three innings, but fell apart late; something that has been a problem for the 28-year-old in his last few outings. He gave up a solo homer to Geraldo Perdomo, and four more runs came across in the sixth — three of them charged to Kirby — to erase the Mariners’ 5-1 lead. Kirby still possesses a solid 3.77 ERA on the season with a 59/17 K/BB over his 74 innings, but there have been some cracks in the armor as of late. He’ll try and put it all together against the Mets on Wednesday.

George Kirby allowed five runs -- three earned -- with three strikeouts over six innings in a loss against the Royals on Saturday.
Kirby labored through the first inning, giving up three runs, one earned, on three hits and an error. He stranded a runner in the second, then gave up another run on two hits and a sacrifice fly in the third. Kirby tossed two more scoreless innings, then gave up a fifth run on two hits in the sixth. He’d complete the frame and end his day at 92 pitches. He struck out three. Kirby hasn’t been as sharp of late. And his 26.1 percent strikeout rate in 2025 is looking like an outlier. The 28-year-old right-hander owns a 3.54 ERA, 1.21 WHIP, and a 55/16 K/BB ratio across 68 2/3 innings. He’ll look to get back on track against the Diamondbacks in Seattle on Friday.

George Kirby surrendered six runs in 5 2/3 innings Sunday in a loss to the Padres.
Kirby initially had really good velocity tonight, averaging 98.8 mph with his fastball in the first inning. However, he was down to 96.2 mph by the sixth, when he gave up four of the six hits and runs he allowed on the night. If he had maintained his stuff a little longer, this was probably a quality start. Since he clearly hadn’t, Dan Wilson obviously shouldn’t have left him in as long as he did. Kirby will take a 5-3 record and a 3.45 ERA into his next start in Kansas City.

George Kirby pitched five innings of one-run ball Monday in the Mariners’ 3-1 defeat of the Astros.
The Mariners prevailed tonight even though they were outhit nine to seven and outwalked three to one. Kirby struck out seven and walked two in moving to 5-2. His strikeout rate is down some, but he’s more than countered it by generating more grounders, and he’ll take a 2.84 ERA into his next start against the Padres.

George Kirby gave up two runs and struck out five batters over seven innings in a no-decision against the Braves on Tuesday.
Kirby had faced the minimum through three innings, then gave up two runs on three hits in the fourth. He settled in for three more scoreless frames before his day was done after seven. He scattered five hits and one walk while striking out five batters. The 28-year-old right-hander will take a 2.94 ERA, 1.10 WHIP, and a 39/12 K/BB ratio across 52 innings into a start against the Astros in Houston on Monday.

George Kirby allowed two runs on eight hits in 5 2/3 innings in a no-decision against the Twins on Wednesday.
Kirby struck out eight and walked two while throwing 65 percent of his pitches for strikes and posting an 11 percent swinging strike rate. Kirby leaned heavily on his sinker against righties, throwing just three four-seamers all game, and was able to miss bats with his sweeper and changeup consistently. He did struggle to put hitters away in two-strike counts with a 14 percent PutAway Rate on the day, which is well below his 19 percent career mark. The right-hander will look to be more consistent next time out, next week against the Braves.

George Kirby picked up his fourth victory of the season on Friday night, holding the Cardinals to two runs on five hits across his six frames.
Kirby struck out two batters on the night while issuing one free pass. All of the damage done against him came on a two-out, two-run single off the bat of Masyn Winn in the fourth inning. The 28-year-old hurler got 11 whiffs on 81 pitches on the night — six of them on his slider — while posting a CSW of 28 percent. He now sports a terrific 2.97 ERA, 1.04 WHIP and a 29/9 K/BB ratio over 39 1/3 innings through his first 39 1/3 innings. He’ll look to keep the good times rolling when he takes on the Twins in Minnesota on Wednesday.

George Kirby worked 5 2/3 innings while allowing just one run in a win over the Rangers on Saturday.
It’s the first win for Seattle over Texas in their five games, and the third win of the season for Kirby. He did allow 10 balls in play that registered as hard hits, but he was able to strike out five while generating a strong 14 swings and misses before exiting in the sixth. Kirby’s command still isn’t at the level we’ve grown accustomed to seeing, but it’s nice to see some whiffs. He’ll gets the Cardinals in St. Louis on Friday.
