Shane Baz allowed six runs (five earned) in 5 2/3 innings and took the loss against the Yankees on Monday.

Baz gave up five hits, walked five and struck out four. He fell to 1-3 with the loss. Baz’ day started with allowing a double to Trent Grisham and a two-run home run to Aaron Judge. It didn’t get much better from there as he allowed six runs, though one was unearned. Baz’ 4.49 xFIP isn’t much better than his 4.99 ERA. He’s not a recommended option at home against the Athletics this weekend.

Blue Jays manager John Schneider said George Springer (toe) should be ready for Tuesday’s game against the Rays.

Springer sat out his second straight game during Monday’s series opener after fouling a ball off his left toe over the weekend.

NYY Starting Pitcher #31

Cam Schlittler allowed one run in 5 2/3 innings and got the win in the Yankees’ 12-1 victory over the Orioles on Monday.

Schlittler gave up seven hits, walked three and struck out four. He improved to 5-1 on the season with the win and is now sporting a 1.52 ERA. Schlittler left the top of the sixth inning with the bases loaded and two outs, but Jake Bird struck out Jeremiah Jackson to end the frame. With Tarik Skubal set for surgery, Schlittler is firmly in the American League Cy Young award mix. He’s lined up to start against the Brewers on the road on Saturday.

Dillon Dingler went 1-for-4 with a double and two RBI against the Red Sox on Monday.

Dingler was sitting on 0-for-3 before he came up in the eighth inning and two-out, two-run double off Red Sox reliever Garrett Whitlock to bring the Tigers within a run. Dingler already has 25 RBI in 30 games so far this year after driving in 57 in 126 games last season.

Jarren Duran went 3-for-5 with a three-run home run and a stolen base against the Tigers on Monday.

The home run was Duran’s fourth of the season. He hit a three-run home run off Ricky Vanasco in the seventh inning. Duran also recorded his sixth stolen base of the season. After a rough start to the year, he’s hit a home run in three of his last four games.

Aroldis Chapman

BOS Relief Pitcher #44

Aroldis Chapman tossed a scoreless ninth inning and got the save against the Tigers on Monday.

Chapman entered the ninth inning with a one-run lead and made quick work of the Tigers with a scoreless inning in just 13 pitches. In a year full of close chaos already, the 38-year-old flamethrower has a 0.77 ERA and has been one of the most reliable options out there.

Athletics placed C Shea Langeliers on the paternity list.

Langeliers launches two homers on his wife’s birthday on Saturday before she gave birth to their first child on Sunday morning. The 28-year-old slugging backstop is going to take some time away from the club to be with his family for the next couple days while Austin Wynns and newly acquired Jonah Heim handle the catching duties.

The Athletics are undoubtedly very familiar with Heim’s work since he began his career with the club before becoming the starting backstop for the division-rival Rangers. The 30-year-old heads out to West Sacramento after being removed from Atlanta’s 40-man roster earlier on Monday. He’ll provide the Athletics with some additional depth behind Austin Wynns while Shea Langeliers is away on paternity leave for a couple days this week.

Ty Madden

DET Starting Pitcher #36

Ty Madden tossed five scoreless innings and didn’t factor into the decision against the Red Sox on Monday.

Madden gave up four hits, walked none and struck out seven. It was an impressive 2026 debut for Madden. The 26-year-old right-hander was called up Monday and could be a factor in the Tigers’ pitching plan going forward given the injuries the team is currently dealing with. Madden came in as the bulk pitcher after Tyler Holton started and threw five scoreless innings. He will likely be used in similar fashion against the Royals this weekend.
