Peralta didn’t end up making an appearance for the Rockies after being called up last week to fortify their bullpen mix. The 27-year-old lefty has made 30 relief appearances in the big leagues dating back to 2023.

Vargas doubled and scored on Braden Montgomery’s two-run triple as part of a five-run fourth inning off of Jackson Jobe. He then tagged Enmanuel De Jesus for a 392-foot (104.7-mph EV) two-run shot in the sixth inning that increased the Sox’ lead to 8-3. He also capped off their scoring with a 397-foot (100.7-mph EV) solo shot off of Ty Madden in the eighth. Vargas has been very productive in the middle of the White Sox’ lineup this season, slashing .239/.343/.486 with 27 homers, 71 RBI and 12 stolen bases across his 523 plate appearances.

Montgomery got the White Sox on the board first with a two-out RBI single off of Jackson Jobe in the top half of the first inning. He then delivered a two-run triple in the fourth that extended his club’s lead to 6-3. With his three-hit attack, the 23-year-old outfielder is now slashing .237/.329/.381 with four homers and 27 RBI in 222 plate appearances.

Murakami crushed a Jackson Jobe 3-0 fastball for a 392-foot (110.0-mph EV) solo shot as part of a five-run uprising in the fourth inning. He also walked and scored on a two-run shot by Miguel Vargas in the sixth inning. For the season, the 26-year-old slugger is now slashing .235/.370/.539 with 27 long balls and 55 RBI in what has been an impactful rookie campaign.

Urquidy struck out three batters on the night and didn’t issue a base on balls. He took over in the second inning after Sean Newcomb recorded the first four outs and Urquidy served up a two-run blast to Ben Malgeri before the inning was through. He gave up just one run the rest of the way though, allowing the White Sox’ offense to do the work for him to earn him a win. He now sports a miserable 8.10 ERA, 2.20 WHIP and a 9/2 K/BB ratio over 10 innings with the White Sox this season.

Malgeri got the Tigers on the board and briefly gave them a 2-1 advantage with his 375-foot (100.5-mph EV) two-run shot off of Jose Urquidy in the second inning. He then greeted Huascar Brazoban by crushing a first-pitch sinker for a 372-foot (105.7-mph EV) solo shot in the seventh that trimmed the Tigers’ deficit to 8-4. He finished the night 2-for-4 and is now hitting a solid .283/.391/.491 with three homers and 10 RBI in his first 64 plate appearances with the Tigers.

The 24-year-old hurler struck out four batters in the ballgame while issuing just one walk. He had only allowed one run through the first three innings, but the wheels fell off for him in the fourth inning. There, the White Sox struck for five runs as Tristan Peters slugged a two-run homer, Munetaka Murakami added a solo shot and Braden Montgomery smacked a two-run triple. Jobe got seven whiffs on 74 pitches on the night, posting a CSW of 24 percent. He’ll try to put this rough outing behind him as he brings a 6.23 ERA, 1.38 WHIP and an 8/2 K/BB ratio into Wednesday’s battle against the Pirates in Pittsburgh.

It was a quiet night for the Marlins offensively. Edwards’ single was one of just four hits the Marlins could manage on the night, and all of the team’s hits were singles. Edwards and the Marlins also failed to draw a walk all night, making scoring opportunities hard to come by. Edwards has recorded a hit in three of his last four games but is slashing just .212/.276/.250 in his last 15 games.

The Reds were held in check by Sandy Alcantara all night, but finally broke through in the sixth inning when Suárez ripped a double to left-center to bring in Tyler Stephenson for the lone run of the game. Suárez has now hit safely in three of his last four games while driving in six runs over that span.

Alcantara found himself in the middle of a pitching duel with Chase Burns on Friday. Alcantara was solid in this one. Despite issuing four walks over his seven innings of work, he kept the Reds hitless through his first three innings of work, with his lone earned run coming in the sixth inning after an RBI double by Eugenio Suárez. The lone earned run by Alcantara marks his first since July 22nd, bringing his scoreless innings streak to 25 2/3 innings. He’ll look to start a new streak when he takes the mound again on Wednesday against the Phillies.

It was another dominant outing for Burns, who was in need of a bounce-back after allowing five earned runs in his last outing against the Nationals. Burns needed to be on top of his game to match Marlins starter Sandy Alcantara, who allowed just one earned run in seven innings of work. Burns limited the Marlins to just three hits on the night, all of which were singles, and never allowed a runner to get into scoring position. Burns has allowed one earned run or less in four of his last five starts. He’s next scheduled to take the mound Tuesday at home against the Cardinals.
