Cole Young had a go-ahead triple in the top of the 10th as the Mariners beat the Angels 3-1 on Friday.
It was a scoreless game until Young knocked in the automatic runner. He and Julio Rodríguez, who was intentionally walked, later added insurance by scoring on a Josh Naylor single. Young’s triple, which didn’t miss being a homer by much, was the only extra-base hit by either team tonight. It came off Brent Suter, making him 5-for-12 in lefty-lefty matchups to start the season. That’s pretty good from someone who figured to do a lot of sitting against southpaws this year.

Cole Young went 3-for-4 with a double and an RBI in a win over the Yankees on Monday.
Young got enough of a Ryan Weathers’ offering to dump a broken-bat single into right to score Randy Arozarena in the second inning. He’s swung the bat well to begin 2025 with four RBI and a .333/.368/.611 slash over the first five games. Just keep in mind that Colt Emerson is an even more highly-touted prospect, so the leash may be short.

Cole Young went 1-for-3 and blasted a three-run homer on Friday night, propelling the Mariners to a 5-1 victory over the visiting Guardians.
The 22-year-old infielder did his damage in the fourth inning of this one, launching an 0-2 fastball from Gavin Williams for a 367-foot (98.6 mph EV) go-ahead three-run homer. That proved to be all of the run support that George Kirby and company would require in this one. That was his only hit on the evening and his only knock through his first six at-bats on the season thus far.

Cole Young will start at second base and bat eighth against Tanner Bibee and the Guardians on Opening Day.
The 22-year-old second baseman is coming off of a very impressive Cactus League season. He’s expected to function in the strong side of a platoon for the M’s, though that role could expand while J.P. Crawford is shelved, which could allow him to carve out some deep league fantasy value. He’s the full alignment that manager Dan Wilson will send out on Opening Day: Brendan Donovan (3B), Cal Raleigh (C), Julio Rodriguez (CF), Josh Naylor (1B), Randy Arozarena (LF), Luke Raley (RF), Dominic Canzone (DH), Cole Young (2B) and Leo Rivas (SS).

Cole Young went 3-for-4 with a pair of homers, a double, four runs scored and five RBI as the Mariners routed the Guardians 20-7 in Cactus League play on Friday night.
The 22-year-old infielder started a 10-run uprising in the second inning with a solo shot off of Logan Allen. He then drew a walk and rode home on a two-run blast by Victor Robles later in the inning. Young also delivered a two-run double in the third that increased the M’s lead to 14-4. He also put the exclamation point on the victory with a two-run bomb off of Matt Festa in the sixth inning. He’s having a terrific spring, hitting .294 (15-for-51) with six homers, 18 RBI and three stolen bases.
  • SEA 2nd Baseman #2
Cole Young went 2-for-5 with a double, RBI and a stolen base as the Mariners fell to the Angels in Cactus League play on Saturday.
The 22-year-old infielder reached on a fielder’s choice in the opening inning and swiped second base, but the M’s couldn’t cash him in from there. He then doubled with two outs in the third inning and got the Mariners on the board with a run-scoring single in the fifth inning. He’s having an exceptional spring at the plate, hitting .289 (11-for-38) with four homers, 12 RBI and three stolen bases in 43 plate appearances.
  • SEA 2nd Baseman #2
Cole Young hit his second and third homers of the spring Friday to lead the Mariners past the Rangers 5-1.
Young probably won’t play against lefties, won’t steal a ton of bases and will be held back by his home ballpark, so his fantasy ceiling is rather low. Still, he has a chance be a fine platoon second baseman for Seattle at just 22 years old. He held his own last year thanks to his excellent plate discipline, and there’s definitely more power on the way, as he’s demonstrating this spring. All four of his balls in play today were hard hit.
  • SEA Infield #2
Cole Young hit a two-run homer in a loss to the Rangers on Sunday.
Young clobbered a two-run homer off Jacob Latz in the first inning. The 22-year-old is battling for the starting second base job to open 2026, but he’ll have to hold off top prospect Colt Emerson to do so. Young is an intriguing dynasty prospect, but one who fantasy managers need to take a wait-and-see approach with before investing.
  • SEA 2nd Baseman #33
Mariners acquired INF/OF Brendan Donovan from the Cardinals in a three-team trade that sent BHP Jurrangelo Cijintje, OF Tai Peete and a 2026 Comp B draft pick from Seattle to St. Louis, 3B Ben Williamson from Seattle to Tampa Bay and OF Colton Ledbetter and a Comp B draft pick Tampa Bay to St. Louis.
The pick is lined up to 68th or 69th overall. Donovan was connected to Seattle all winter, and the Mariners get him arguably without including any of their top five prospects. As things stand now, he’d seem to project as their third baseman and leadoff man. However, if top prospect Cole Emerson makes a run at the third base job in spring training, Donovan could play second or left. That versatility makes him an especially nice fit in a lineup with a few question marks. Donovan hit .287/.353/.422 and made the NL All-Star team last season. He’s never been a big fantasy infielder because of his lack of homers (career high of 14 in 2024) and steals (career high of five in 2023 and ’24), and moving to Seattle doesn’t figure to help him any. Randy Arozarena could also lose some fantasy value here; he ended last year in the leadoff spot but could drop as low as fifth in the lineup now. Cole Young’s status as the favorite to start at second base is also probably a little shakier, but he’s not a mixed-league guy anyway.
  • SEA Right Fielder #8
Dominic Canzone is not in the lineup for Wednesday’s tilt against the Orioles.
Canzone will sit against southpaw Trevor Rogers. Dylan Moore is playing right field and hitting ninth. Cole Young also gets the day off with Jorge Polanco getting the start at second base and Mitch Garver the designated hitter.
