This was not an easy start for Irvin. The Brewers put at least one runner on base in all five of his innings and more often than not, there was constant traffic. Things got off to an inauspicious start when Garrett Mitchell doubled on the third pitch of the game and then scored on a pass ball just two batters later. His curveball was the only thing working, forcing seven of his eight total swings-and-misses as he placed it well just below the zone. But again, that was basically all he had. He’ll take a 4.93 ERA into his next start against the Twins.

Thornton had been away from the club since Tuesday as he welcomed a new addition to the family. The 32-year-old righty has been exceptional since joining the Cubs on May 6, registering a 1.69 ERA, 1.06 WHIP and a 6/7 K/BB ratio over his 16 frames.

The 32-year-old right-hander was just recalled on Tuesday, but he’ll head back to Triple-A with Trent Thornton returning from the paternity list. Ferguson posted a 16.88 ERA, 2.63 WHIP and a 4/2 K/BB ratio over 2 2/3 innings with the Cubs.

Ohtani did undergo imaging on his knee which revealed nothing more than normal wear and tear. Roberts noted that it won’t be a situation where Ohtani needs to go on the injured list and that he’ll return on Sunday if he doesn’t on Saturday. It sounds like fantasy managers and Dodgers’ fans can rest easy here.

Flaherty was seen talking to the trainers and the coaching staff after finishing the third inning, then he went into the tunnel and never returned. Flaherty gave up two runs on three hits and a walk while striking out one batter in his three innings of work. It doesn’t sound like anything that should cause him to miss his next start, but it’ll depend on how he’s feeling over the next few days.

Nothing has changed in the prognosis for the 24-year-old hurler, who still has yet to resume throwing, this was done as a procedural move to clear a spot on the club’s 40-man roster for Sean Sullivan. There’s still no clear timeline for when Dollander may be able to return.

The Rockies needed to clear a spot on their active roster for the arrival of Sean Sullivan on Friday and unfortunately Peralta drew the short straw this time around. The 28-year-old southpaw holds a 10.13 ERA, 1.88 WHIP and a 4/2 K/BB ratio over 2 2/3 innings with the Rockies this season.

The 23-year-old hurler will start for the Rockies on Friday night against the Athletics in West Sacramento in what will be his MLB debut. Sullivan made 11 starts at the Triple-A level this season, posting an unsightly 5.60 ERA, 1.55 WHIP and a 50/19 K/BB ratio over 54 2/3 innings. He can be ignored for fantasy purposes.

Yankees’ skipper Aaron Boone told reporters on Friday that Fried had recent imaging done that showed increased healing in his balky pitching elbow. It’s still going to be a slow progression for the 32-year-old southpaw as he ramps back up, but the fact that he’s getting on the mound again is obviously an encouraging sign.

Yoho was just optioned out on Monday, but he’ll rejoin the Brewers’ bullpen with Coleman Crow (forearm) landing on the 15-day injured list. Yoho has dominated at the minor league level this season and has posted a 3.00 ERA, 1.00 WHIP and a 5/2 K/BB ratio over three innings of work with the Brewers this season.

That certainly doesn’t sound good, as forearm flexor strains are often precursors to elbow issues. No word yet on the severity of the issue or how long the Brewers expect the 25-year-old hurler to be sidelined for. Craig Yoho was recalled from Triple-A Nashville in a corresponding move on Friday.
