The 24-year-old hurler just got the call on Saturday, but the Twins need to clear a spot for the arrival of Yoendrys Gomez on Friday and unfortunately for Klein he drew the short straw this time around. He appeared in two games in his brief time with the Twins, posting a 7.71 ERA and 1.29 WHIP across 2 1/3 innings.

Walker is in a 5-for-43 slump, dropping his average from .317 to .266, but three of those five hits have been homers. That Walker has done a nice job cutting back on the strikeouts this season suggests he’ll maintain a decent average going forward, but .317 was never realistic. His career-high average is .271, from the shortened 2020 season, and he finished in between .238 and .258 all five years since.

Teng’s previous win came in his first relief appearance on March 28. Teng walked four tonight, but he allowed just two hits and two hard-hit balls. He might prove to be an option in deeper mixed leagues as he continues to build up as a starter. He’s allowed just three homers and amassed a 30/12 K/BB in 31 innings to date. He’ll face the Cubs next weekend.

It took both Enyel De Los Santos and Bryan King to get though the seventh tonight. AJ Blubaugh opened the eighth with two consecutive outs, but he then walked two in a row to get Abreu into the game. Abreu got Justin Foscue to fly out to end the rally and then worked a scoreless ninth while giving up a walk and a single. In all, three of the four outs Abreu recorded came on hard-hit balls. He might earn another save or two before Josh Hader returns, but he hardly seems worth picking up in mixed leagues at this point.

Jose Altuve and Yordan Alvarez homered in the first, and Christian Walker and Zach Cole went deep in the fourth. Aside from that, deGrom allowed just one other hit and no walks. He struck out four. It’s the second time deGrom has allowed four homers, the other time occurring in 2017 against the Cardinals. Randal Grichuk, Paul DeJong, Dexter Fowler and Jedd Gyorko were responsible then. DeGrom dropped to 3-3 with a 3.02 ERA. He’ll face the Angels next week.

Just hours after it was announced that he’s been dealing with discomfort in his foot, elbow and wrist; Soto was able to show they’re not bugging him too much with his second and third stolen base of the season. The 27-year-old star also drew a pair of walks, and now hitting a very solid .284/.383/.505 on the campaign. Those are pretty good numbers for the overwhelming majority of hitters, but they’re not quite what fantasy managers are hoping for with a player of Soto’s capability.

Williams didn’t allow a hit, didn’t issue a walk, and picked up a strikeout. It’s the sixth save of the season, and the scoreless frame lowers his ERA to 4.91. He’s locked in as the Mets’ closer, but that’s not really the compliment it should be.

Peterson worked behind opener Huascar Brazoban, with Brazoban throwing 1 1/3 scoreless innings before exiting. Peterson was solid enough after entering, and he generated 10 swings and misses on 82 pitches. He also walked three and allowed six hits, so he was a bit fortunate to allow just the pair of runs in terms of traffic. He’ll likely work again in bulk next week.

Rodón did strike out six despite seeing his fastball being down to 94.8 mph on average compared to the 95.7 he sported in his debut last weekend. The left-hander saw two runs score on a wild pitch — yes, two runs on the same wild pitch — and he walked three while throwing 55-of-88 pitches for strikes. Rodón’s stuff looked fine, but the command was a good ways off in this one. He’ll be back on the bump Thursday against the Blue Jays.
