Gibson picked up his first victory against the Rays on Wednesday, allowing just one run on six hits and four walks across 5 1/3 innings of work. It’s unclear what the Orioles plan to do the next time this spot in the rotation comes around, but for now Gibson will continue to refine his craft at the Triple-A level.

Sosa was responsible for three of the six hits the Phillies tallied as a team on Friday, with his biggest coming on a solo blast in the sixth inning off of Mets starter Zac Thornton. It was the eighth homer of the season for Sosa, who has hit safely in four of his last six games.

The 31-year-old right-hander did brilliant work for the Marlins this season, posting a 2.62 ERA, 0.96 WHIP and a 41/12 K/BB ratio over 34 1/3 innings of work. He should be fully recovered and ready to go for the start of the 2027 season.

Soto’s first hit of the night came on a double in the second inning that didn’t lead to any runs being scored. In the sixth inning, Soto would hit a three-run homer off of Phillies reliever Orion Kerkering to push the Mets’ lead to 6-2. It was the 26th homer of the season for Soto, who now has four homers in September and has hit safely in three of his last five games. He is slashing just .239/.329/.463 in the month.

Fairbanks landed on the injured list earlier in the week due to right median nerve irritation and now we know what was really going on. It’s a brutal blow for the impending free agent as he’s going to require a lengthy require and won’t be ready for the start of the 2027 season.

It’s been a down year for Ramírez based on his surreal track record of first-round fantasy production that stretches back nearly a decade. However, he’s come on strong approaching the finish line when the Guardians, and fantasy managers, have needed him most this season. The 34-year-old stalwart came through with a game-tying RBI single in the fourth inning before extending Cleveland’s lead with a solo homer in the sixth inning. It was his 12th big fly of the season. He also picked up his 34th stolen base of the year in this one. With the victory, the Guardians remain in a virtual tie with the White Sox for the AL Central division title with just over one week left in the regular season.
