Nikhazy was claimed off waivers from the White Sox at the end of April but had to be let go to make room on the 40-man roster for Yosver Zulueta. Nikhazy, who never spent any time on the major league roster, posted an 8.44 ERA in 26 2/3 innings at Triple-A for the Cubs in eight appearances (six starts). He will likely go unclaimed on waivers.

The 28-year-old infielder had been designated for assignment by the Red Sox on Tuesday as they faced a 40-man roster crunch. Harris has done a nice job at the Triple-A level this season, slashing a healthy 293/.405/.459 with eight homers and five stolen bases across 71 games. He’ll add extra infield depth for the Giants.

Winn continues to make slow progress in his recovery from right elbow neuritis. and it became clear that he wasn’t going to make it back before the end of the 2026 season, so the Giants wanted to make better use of his spot on the 40-man roster. Brett Harris was claimed off of waivers from the Red Sox in a corresponding move on Thursday.

The Blue Jays managed nine walks and nine singles, but Lukes was the only player with an extra-base hit against the Guardians during Thursday’s Blue Angels Practice Matinee. The 32-year-old corner bat has hit .264/.310/.528 with four homers in his last 15 games as the Jays try to get back in the AL Wild Card picture.

Adell scored two of Cleveland’s three runs. He’s hitting .298/.365/.456 with two homers and one stolen base over his last 15 games with the Guardians since coming over at the August 3 trade deadline.

The 26-year-old hurler threw in a complex game early last week and once again experienced renewed symptoms from the stress reaction in his neck. After consulting with doctors, the decision was made to shut him down for the season. If remains to be seen what type of surgical intervention, if any, will be required before he’s able to return to the mound in 2027.

Tasked with the middle of the Cleveland order, he allowed a hard single to José Ramírez and a walk to Nathaniel Lowe before striking out Angel Genao on three pitches to end the game. Varland hit a (relative) rough patch at the beginning of the month, but now has reeled off eight scoreless outings in a row to lower his ERA to 1.18.

John Schneider gave Soriano the hook after he labored through 98 pitches. Mason Fluharty came on and allowed a walk and a two-RBI single to score both of Soriano’s inherited runners. It appears that once again, all relievers are bad. Soriano didn’t exactly deserve the win with how he pitched today and now has a 4.36 ERA and 1.45 WHIP in six starts for the Jays since coming over from the Angels at the trade deadline. He’s got a date with the West Sacramento bandbox next week that anyone not desperate for wins probably can avoid.

Bibee managed a 28 percent Whiff rate and only allowed one hard-hit ball, but he allowed two walks, a bunt single and a 2-RBI double in consecutive order to lead off the fifth inning. Colin Holderman allowed the two inherited runners to score to stick Bibee with this final line. Bibee remains a coinflip to deliver fantasy value. He’ll try for better results against the Orioles next week.

The 22-year-old infielder missed the previous three games due to back spasms. He’s back in there at second base and batting seventh against Brewers’ righty Logan Henderson on Thursday evening in Milwaukee.

Webb was removed from Wednesday’s game against the Brewers after he was struck on the forearm by a line drive off the bat of Christian Yelich. Fortunately, he avoided any structural damage and is only dealing with a contusion and swelling. He’s considered day-to-day.
