NBA DFS Plays Saturday January 16

C.J. McCollum

C.J. McCollum

Stephen Lew-USA TODAY Sports

This article aims to highlight some of the best NBA DFS Plays at every position for your cash game lineups. Keep in mind that the following player write-ups were constructed earlier in the day, and sometimes injury/rest situations can alter the fantasy landscape. Monitoring our NBA News & Headlines Feed throughout the day will keep you in the loop while giving you the subsequent DFS consequences of each information piece.

We’ll take a look at Saturday’s 4-game Main slate starting at 7:30 ET.

POINT GUARD

Trae Young – Atlanta (at Portland) - DK: $8,900 / FD: $8,800 / Yahoo: $40

Make no mistake, Damian Lillard is also a top play at PG tonight. He’s more expensive than Young, by varying amounts, but also has higher upside and a higher floor. I’m highlighting Young here because of the salary savings he offers, and because I think this will be his get-right game. The Vegas total is 234.5 points, and the Trail Blazers are only 4.5-point favorites. Close and high scoring is what we like, and I will be drawing as many players as I can from this game tonight. Young is more of a risk than Lillard, but could be a much better payoff in this top matchup where he’s likely to be rostered at a much lower rate.

Also Consider: Damian Lillard, LaMelo Ball, Kyle Lowry, Delon Wright

SHOOTING GUARD

C.J. McCollum – Portland (vs. Atlanta) - DK: $8,300 / FD: $9,200 / Yahoo: $38

While I love Lillard tonight, I can’t let McCollum pass me by either. The SG position is tough tonight, especially on FanDuel where you require two and McCollum’s salary is so high. Still, McCollum has a fantastic chance to get around 50 fantasy points tonight and should be a cornerstone of all lineups on this small slate.

Also Consider: Devonte’ Graham, Dillon Brooks, Fred VanVleet, Tyler Herro

SMALL FORWARD

Tobias Harris – Philadelphia (at Memphis) - DK: $7,500 / FD: $7,500 / Yahoo: $29

Like McCollum, Harris is a player to build around tonight. He’s reasonably cheap everywhere, perhaps especially so on FanDuel, and with Joel Embiid out, Harris should take on a higher usage rate. He offers a high floor with 50-plus upside and this matchup with Memphis is one of the very best for small forwards (second-most fantasy points allowed).

Also Consider: Jerami Grant, OG Anunoby, Duncan Robinson, Carmelo Anthony (salary savings in a plus matchup)

POWER FORWARD

Chris Boucher – Toronto (vs. Charlotte) - DK: $6,900 / FD: $8,100 / Yahoo: $25

The Raptors played Charlotte on Thursday, and Boucher put up another incredible night with a 25/10/2/2/1 stat line. Charlotte is the league’s best power forward matchup, and though their defensive efficiency is above average, they give up the fifth-most overall fantasy points to opponents, which is why you see me “also considering” Lowry, Anunoby, and Pascal Siakam. Boucher is averaging about 21 points, 8 rebounds, and 3.5 blocks per game over the last four, for about 1.5 fantasy points per minute.

Also Consider: P.J. Washington, Harry Giles, John Collins, Bam Adebayo, Pascal Siakam

CENTER

Clint Capela- Atlanta (at Portland) - DK: $6,700 / FD: $6,400 / Yahoo: $26

Capela is a mid-range center with a solid profile tonight. The Trail Blazers are of course without Jusef Nurkic, but rank just 26th in defensive efficiency through the first 12 games of the season anyway. He’s nearly a lock for a double-double and has pretty nice upside, with a recent 19-rebound game! Capela isn’t flashy and there are plenty of ways to go at center, but I consider him a very safe and affordable cash game play tonight.

Also Consider: Mason Plumlee, Jonas Valanciunas, Enes Kanter, Dwight Howard, Bismack Biyombo

ADDITIONAL NOTES

Harry Giles (PF/C – POR) may go somewhat overlooked as people flock to Enes Kanter to fill Nurkic’s shoes tonight. Both should be busy, and while the veteran Kanter is renowned for his efficient double-doubles in limited minutes, Giles is much more of an X-factor. Tall and long, Giles has usually managed to average more than a fantasy point per minute this season, and I expect him to play 20-plus minutes tonight. Cheaper than Kanter, and usable at PF on FanDuel ($3800), Giles could be key to fitting the Blazers’ guards you want tonight.

P.J. Washington (PF – CHA) has been playing great anyway, but could see expanded usage with Gordon Hayward questionable tonight. Against the Raptors on Thursday, Washington put up a 20/11 double-double to mark his third 40-plus fantasy point game in the last four. His salary is still leaning more toward his floor than his recent average, making him an affordable play in any lineup on all three sites.

Delon Wright (PG – DET) offers nice savings if you can’t fit the top two PGs into your lineups tonight. Wright has been starting for the Pistons, and will meet a depleted Miami Heat team tonight that has struggled to defend guards without Jimmy Butler in the lineup. Wright has averaged 34 MPG and about 28 fantasy points per game in the last three Pistons’ games. This will be by far the easiest matchup for him compared to those (Phoenix, Utah and Milwaukee). His peripherals have been bailing him out fantasy-wise, so if he can get some shots to fall, he could approach 40 fantasy points, or nearly 8X value.
