Nothing official from the Dodgers after Snell landed on the injured list prior to Friday’s scheduled start against the Angels with an elbow injury. The 33-year-old southpaw spent the first seven weeks of the season working his way back from offseason shoulder issues. It’s worth noting that Dodgers manager Dave Roberts expressed optimism that Snell would pitch again this season, but that’s hardly a lock. He can be safely dropped in shallow fantasy formats where roster spots are at a premium. It’ll likely be former top pitching prospect River Ryan taking his rotation spot next week.
  • LAD Starting Pitcher #77
Ryan hit triple digits six times and topped out at 100.9 mph in his first minor-league start since April 11. He averaged 98.6 mph on his four-seam fastball and generated nine swinging strikes during the 53-pitch outing. The fact that his fastball velocity is back to pre-Tommy John surgery levels is an extremely encouraging sign. The 27-year-old former top pitching prospect hasn’t toed the rubber in the big leagues since 2024. Blake Snell unexpectedly landing on the injured list, and facing a lengthy absence, makes him the logical choice to step into Los Angeles’ six-man rotation and gives him immediate fantasy appeal as a viable streaming option. He could potentially get the ball next Friday against the Brewers.
  • SF Left Fielder #17
Ramos was replaced by Casey Schmitt in left field after looking uncomfortable during a sixth-inning at-bat. The 26-year-old finished 1-for-3 at the dish prior to exiting. Giants manager Tony Vitello told reporters afterwards that the injury occurred while Ramos went all-out trying to make a play defensively. It’s unclear whether he’ll undergo imaging in addition to further evaluation and treatment. It doesn’t sound like a potential injured list situation, but fantasy managers should keep a close eye on his status for the rest of the weekend.
  • LAA Catcher #14
Angels manager Kurt Suzuki told reporters O’Hoppe was removed from Friday’s series opener as a precaution after experiencing pain in his left wrist, which is the the same one in which he suffered a small fracture last month. Suzuki added that O’Hoppe did not require X-rays. The 26-year-old backstop could be headed back to the injured list if the discomfort doesn’t subside this weekend. There should be a clearer picture of his status before the Freeway Series concludes this weekend.
  • NYM Starting Pitcher #35
Mets manager Carlos Mendoza told reporters after the game that Holmes will be out “for a long time.” It’s another massive blow to New York’s rotation as Holmes had been exceptional so far this season with a 2.39 ERA, 1.10 WHIP and 45/18 K/BB ratio across 52 2/3 innings across nine starts. He’ll hit the injured list this weekend and could wind up missing the rest of the year given the severity of the injury.
  • CWS Shortstop #12
Montgomery’s 12th homer of the season came in the second inning off of Cubs starter Edward Cabrera, who hung a changeup over the middle of the plate, which Montgomery deposited into right-center field. Montgomery has now homered in back-to-back games and three times in his last five.
  • PHI 1st Baseman #3
Not often you go 4-for-5 and get outshined by a teammate, but here we are. With the Phillies staked to an early 6-0 hole, Harper plinked three singles into the shallow outfield before unleashing a 388-foot ‘single’ off the top of the right-center field wall off Gregory Soto that tied the game in the top of the ninth. The 33-year-old superstar is now hitting .282/.372/.534 in his first 34 games of the year, with 10 homers and two stolen bases.
  • CHC Catcher #15
Kelly continues to swing a hot bat for the Cubs, and is now slashing .281/.324/.313 on the month. The veteran catcher drove in his first run of the night in the fourth inning when he singled home Ian Happy, and later drove in Alex Bregman from third on another RBI single in the seventh inning. In a four-run eighth inning for the Cubs, Kelly doubled with the bases loaded to drive home both Bregman and Seiya Suzuki, to put the finishing touches on one of his best nights at the dish. Kelly has had a decent month, but has yet to homer and has only one extra-base hit to show for his efforts over that span.
  • PIT 2nd Baseman #5
His first was a lined shot just over PNC’s right-field wall to put the Pirates up 4-0 early against Aaron Nola, then added a no-doubted to right-center off Tim Mayza that still hasn’t landed. (It went 422 feet.) Lowe had only garnered hits in two of his last six games entering this one, but he immediately brought his line back up to .250/.352/.591 on the season with 12 homers and 31 RBI. He’s certainly been a solid find for fantasy mangers picking outside of the top tier of second basemen.
  • PHI Designated Hitter #12
To say that Schwarber is on a tear is putting it mildly: He’s got a 1.133 slugging percentage over his last seven games and has hit nine homers in his last eight games to take the major league lead. His first homer sailed just above the second railing in right-center in PNC Park off a 98 mph Braxton Ashcraft fastball, and then hit a lined shot opposite field against Mason Montgomery that just kept carrying, landing 408 feet away in left-center. The second homer surprised even the Phillies announcers with how it just kept carrying. Schwarber’s only hitting .237. Oh well. Enjoy the ride, fantasy managers.
