Cowboys signed EDGE Von Miller, formerly of the Commanders.

Miller, 37, had a very productive year with the Commanders last year. PFF credits him with 36 quarterback pressures, 10 sacks and 14 tackles. Miller should make a notable impact on passing downs and still has some early-down utility as well. Miller and the team reportedly agreed to a one-year pact. It’s a smart signing for Dallas.

Trysta Krick and Jay Croucher discuss concerns surrounding the Chicago Bears; Croucher believes the Bears have too many "red flags" to win 10 games.

Miller mentioned he has lobbied publicly and privately for a return to the Broncos, but knows it is out of his control. The 37-year-old edge rusher tallied nine sacks for the Commanders last season, showing he still has something left in the tank as part of a pass-rushing rotation. He added that he would “love to assist and be a vice president to Bo Nix and Courtland Sutton.” The Broncos don’t necessarily need an addition at outside linebacker but having a veteran return to his original franchise could add some value from a leadership standpoint. Miller has not received much interest as a free agent, though he is still looking to return for his 17th NFL season.
  • WAS Linebacker #24
Miller will be 37 in March but said he wants to return for a 17th professional season, also stating that he hopes to remain in Washington. “Whoever wants me, that’s where I’ll be,” the veteran continued, stating that he understand he is no position to be making demands considering his age. Either way, Miller seems intent on playing again in 2026.
  • WAS Linebacker #40
Miller was a cap casualty of the Bills this offseason as his production did not meet his $17.5 million salary for 2025. The 36-year-old tallied six sacks last season as a rotational pass rusher after an uncharacteristic zero sacks in 2023. He is a Super Bowl winner with the Broncos and Rams and will give it another shot on a one-year deal with a rising Commanders team. An 83.0 PFF grade (No. 11 among edge rushers) last season indicates Miller can still rush the passer in bursts. He will join fellow late-career veteran Bobby Wagner on the front seven of the Commanders defense.
  • FA Linebacker #40
It’s not unusual for older pass rushers to take their time in deciding where to go, and Miller appears to be no exception. He told 9NEWS’ Mike Klis that a return to the Broncos “wouldn’t make sense” because the team has two strong pass rushers. Miller will likely be able to catch on elsewhere — probably closer to training camp — if he desires to continue his career.
  • FA Linebacker #40
Miller was due to make $17.5 million in 2025, but after recording 14 sacks in three seasons, the soon-to-be 36-year-old pass rusher simply wasn’t worth the money he was due. That said, both sides are reportedly open to a return, per NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero, so this may not be the last we see of Miller in a Bills uniform. After winning the Super Bowl with the Rams in 2021, Miller joined the Bills on a six-year, $120 million deal during the 2022 offseason. Injuries limited him to just 36 regular season games with the Bills during his tenure, while the 14 sacks he amassed were his fewest in any three years during his career. In 2023, Miller failed to record a sack despite appearing in 12 games. Miller is in the twilight of his career. Currently ranked 16th in all-time sacks, Miller totaled six sacks and 32 pressures last season, per PFF. He could still find work as a situational pass rusher in 2025, but he may have to wait to see how free agency and the draft unfold before signing a deal. His release will save the Bills $8.4 million against their 2025 cap number.
  • BUF Linebacker #40
Gaughan examines how the Bills need to create cap space and releasing Miller is the easiest way to do it. If Miller is a post-June 1 cut, the Bills can lower his cap figure down to $6.37 million and save $14.77 million. If they release him without the June 1 designation in March, it’s an $8.4 million savings. Miller, who turns 36 in March, recorded six sacks in a reserve role last season. The three-time All-Pro selection and Super Bowl 50 MVP signed a six-year, $120 million contract with Buffalo in 2022, after spending 10 seasons with the Broncos and Rams, winning a pair of Super Bowl titles.
  • BUF Linebacker #40
Miller was suspended at the beginning of October for violating the league’s personal conduct policy, missing Week 5 through Week 8. He will likely immediately return to a situational pass rush role for a Bills team surging up the AFC leaderboard.
  • BUF EDGE #40
He’ll be eligible to return in Week 9 against the Dolphins. Miller had three sacks and five tackles in four games so far this season, rejuvenating himself after a zero-sack 2023. Only a situational pass rusher at this point, Miller will be missed but isn’t exactly a linchpin piece of the Buffalo defense anymore. It’s a slight upgrade for the Texans passing attack this week.
  • BUF Linebacker #40
The Bills have made a series of roster cuts and now restructure Miller to save cap space. The new deal for Miller has a base value of $8.855 million in 2024 with the opportunity to get up to $20 million in incentives. The previous contract was up to $17.5 million in incentives. Reducing Miller’s cap hit and making the contract incentive-laden saves the Bills $8.645 in cap for the 2024 season. After a Divisional Round exit in the playoffs, the Bills have had to find ways to save money for a push next season.
  • BUF Linebacker #40
Considering the money the Bills are paying Miller and the fact that they continued to play him in recent weeks despite domestic violence allegations, this is a surprise. However, Miller has not performed on the field at all since coming back from a torn ACL, so he likely would have been benched much sooner if he wasn’t Von Miller. With A.J. Epenesa back, the Bills have decided to sit Miller, which also calls into question his future with the team. With DT DaQuan Jones also healthy, the Bills have made DT Linval Joseph inactive. Other inactives for the Bills are OL Alec Anderson, S Damar Hamlin, and CB Kaiir Elam.

    Commanders released K Jake Moody.

NFL insider Jordan Schultz was the first to report the move. The former 49er was signed to a one-year deal earlier this offseason after a brief stint with Washington, in which he went 10-for-11 while going 2-for-2 on distances of 50-plus yards. Moody had been in a kicking competition with rookie UDFA Drew Stevens, who has outperformed Moody in camp. Whether this means Stevens has won the job, or that Washington will be signing another kicker to compete with Stevens, is to be determined, but Moody’s brief stint with the Commanders is now over. Moody was a third-round pick by the Niners in 2023 and has converted 78 percent of his field goals in his career and is 107-for-110 on his extra point tries.

Browns HC Todd Monken said he hopes the team is trying to get KC Concepcion the ball “as often as we can.”

Concepcion caught three passes for 27 yards in the Browns’ preseason opener and also ran in a 14-yard touchdown on a jet sweep. The rookie first-rounder drew high praise from Monken on Monday, who said, "(Concepcion) is explosive, he’s tough, he’s got great contact balance,” to the media. There have been multiple reports this offseason about the Browns trying to get Concepcion the ball in as many ways as possible. We’ll still want to see how his usage shakes out once we get to real games, but Concepcion sounds like a great later-round target who could yield early results for fantasy managers.

DeVonta Smith (hamstring) was spotted at Monday’s practice.

Smith has missed more than a week of practice time, but on Monday, he was seen warming up on the sidelines in shoulder pads. We don’t know if Smith will be a full or limited participant, but his return in any capacity is an encouraging sign for the Eagles and fantasy managers.

Tony Pollard (food) did not practice on Monday.

Head coach Robert Saleh said after the team’s practice on Saturday that he was hopeful to have Pollard back on Monday. That didn’t come to fruition, but hopefully this is a short-term thing for Pollard. The veteran running back rushed four times for 22 yards and a touchdown in the team’s preseason outing against the 49ers and is expected to again lead the Titans’ backfield in touches this season.

NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reports free agent RB Najee Harris is visiting with the Giants on Monday.

This comes two weeks after The Athletic’s Dan Duggan said the team could look to add a veteran running back before the team’s season opener. Harris, 28, suffered a torn Achilles in Week 3 of last season and has been working toward a return. He met with the Raiders earlier this offseason and will now meet with the Giants, who have a relatively crowded backfield with Cam Skattebo, Tyrone Tracy, and a proven vet in Devin Singletary. If Harris were to join the Giants, we would expect him to work behind both Skattebo and Tracy.

Ravens CBs Nate Wiggins and Marlon Humphrey returned to practice on Monday.

Head coach Jesse Minter said last week that both corners had a chance to be back this week, so their return on Monday doesn’t come as much of a surprise. Both Wiggins and Humphrey missed the team’s preseason opener against the Eagles on Saturday, but missed less than a week of camp. Given their fairly quick return to the field, we will assume both players are good to go moving forward.

Jets HC Aaron Glenn said Breece Hall suffered a strained groin in Monday’s practice.

Glenn said he doesn’t believe Hall’s injury “was a big deal,” but said the star RB will be evaluated. It sounds like Hall avoided anything too serious, but given the nature of these types of injuries, it wouldn’t be surprising if Hall was sidelined for at least a few days. With Hall and Isaiah Davis (knee) both sidelined, the Jets are relatively thin at RB at the moment. Braelon Allen will slide into RB1 duties until Hall can return, and remains an intriguing late-round pick as the handcuff for Hall in fantasy leagues.

Chiefs CB Mansoor Delane was seen in a full-contact jersey on Monday.

Sporting a full-contact jersey and shoulder pads for the first time in training camp, Delane appears set to be a full-go for the Chiefs. The first-round rookie had been recovering from a shoulder injury he suffered earlier this offseason and was practicing on a limited basis in camp after avoiding the PUP list. With roughly three weeks to go before the start of the season, Delane appears to be on track to play in Week 1 against the Broncos.

Breece Hall left Monday’s practice with trainers.

This is a developing story, so we might not know the specifics of Hall’s injury for a while. ESPN’s Rich Cimini reported that Hall went down untouched after making a catch, while Jets beat writer Brian Costello speculated that it could be a groin injury for Hall. It’s all speculation at this point, but the Jets losing Hall for any length of time would be a tough blow for the offense. He’s once again expected to handle a three-down workload after seeing a 33 percent opportunity share last season. We will check back in when we learn more about Hall’s status.

Dolphins activated WR Chris Bell (knee) from the active/non-football injury list.

Bell has been recovering from a torn ACL he suffered last season at Louisville, but is now ready to return to the field. The Dolphins used the 94th overall pick in this year’s draft on Bell to bolster their receiver room, but whether or not he’ll be able to get up to speed and contribute as a rookie is to be determined. Bell has the ideal size for an outside receiver and caught 72 passes for 917 yards and six touchdowns in his final season. Given the underwhelming nature of the Dolphins’ receiver room, it’s possible he works his way into a more meaningful role later in the season.
