C LeCharles Bentley admits he’s having a tough time learning the Browns’ offense.

“I don’t know what’s going on half the time,” the Pro Bowl center said. “Half the time I don’t think guys know what I’m doing.” Bentley still has plenty of time to learn his and his linemates’ assignments.

Rams EDGE Myles Garrett (knee) did not participate in Tuesday’s practice.

Checking in on the star pass-rusher heading into the third preseason week, Garrett (knee) still has not practiced since early August. He is experiencing swelling in his knee and head coach Sean McVay continues to downplay his absence. It’s possible this is just veteran load management; we still expect Garrett to be ready for Week 1, though his absence is becoming more and more notable as the season inches closer.
Can Jefferson get back to elite production?
Everyone knows Justin Jefferson is an elite receiver. Can the Vikings do enough to help him put up elite numbers?

J.J. McCarthy and Carson Wentz split the second-team reps at Vikings training camp on Tuesday.

The Vikings spent a lot of energy having a pretend quarterback competition between McCarthy and Kyler Murray this offseason, but at least it kept them fresh for this second pretend competition where McCarthy will push Wentz for second-team duties. McCarthy is an obvious trade candidate and it would be surprising if he was higher than the third-team quarterback to open the season in Minnesota. One of these quarterbacks is more reliable than the other and somehow that quarterback is Carson Wentz.

Mike Evans (groin) did not practice Tuesday.

Kyle Shanahan indicated Evans should be back to practice next week before leaving for Australia. The line between “Evans is being treated very carefully” and “Evans is always hurt” has been blurred for a few years now, but it doesn’t seem like he’s in any danger of missing time yet.

Seahawks placed S Bud Clark (ankle) on season-ending injured reserve.

It’ll be a total redshirt year for the 64th overall pick. Seattle also placed OL Mason Richman on injured reserve.

Commanders signed LT D.J. Humphries to a one-year contract.

Humphries appeared in eight games with the Rams last year, mostly as a reserve. His last real chance to start came when the Chiefs turned to him in 2024 and he was disastrous there, though admittedly he was playing through a hamstring injury. He’s a veteran depth add here as the Commanders try to muddle through life without Laremy Tunsil.

Saints coach Kellen Moore said Ty Chandler (knee) will miss the 2026 season.

Tough break for the 28-year-old back. He didn’t figure to be a major part of the Saints backfield conversation, but he had a shot at a roster spot if healthy. He’ll likely need to prove he’s healthy before signing on for another shot elsewhere in 2027.

Jets special teams coordinator Chris Banjo said Jason Sanders has won the team’s kicking job.

The 30-year-old veteran who missed all of last season due to a hip injury was released from the Giants’ competition in June and caught on with the Jets afterwards. “Jets kicker” is not traditionally a very valuable fantasy role, and this year, that will probably remain the case.

Rams TE Terrance Ferguson missed Tuesday’s practice with “soreness” and worked out to the side.

Another blurb brought to you by the idea of: “Probably nothing, but...” We’ll monitor Ferguson’s status but expect him to be ready for the Rams’ Week 1 opener in Australia.

Chris Olave left Tuesday’s practice early after a “hard landing” on a deep ball.

Olave walked off under his own power with trainers. Saints coach Kellen Moore said Olave is “all good” and that he got the wind knocked out of him. We wouldn’t be surprised if he got a practice off, but there’s no cause for concern here.

Jets OC Frank Reich said the team will “scale back” Kenyon Sadiq’s role early in the season.

“We’ll have to work him in slowly,” Reich concluded. Sadiq has plenty of upside, but it doesn’t sound like he needs to be on the redraft radar early in the year unless you play in a deep enough league to make stashing him worthwhile.
