The Broncos aren’t expected to sign a free agent running back unless Willis McGahee is placed on injured reserve at some point.

Steve Slaton reportedly had an impressive workout on Tuesday, but the Broncos are more likely to turn to practice squad RB Jeremiah Johnson if they need depth at the position.

Cardinals declared CB Garrett Williams, QB Carson Beck, OL Josh Fryar, WR Reggie Virgil and DL Andrew Billings inactive for Week 2 against the Seahawks.

Williams is not yet ready to return from his season-ending Achilles tendon rupture. On the plus side, DT Roy Lopez (groin) will play this week, and RG Isaiah Adams (knee) will make his 2026 debut. Beck will serve as the emergency third quarterback against the division rival Seahawks.
Giants very much 'alive' vs. Rams in Week 2
Jay Croucher and Drew Dinsick explain why they aren't putting too much stock in the Giants' good Week 1 form, but the Rams' slow start and other 'external factors' opens the door for an upset in LA.

Saints LT Kelvin Banks (ankle) will not return in Week 2 against the Ravens.

Banks was carted from the field in the third quarter with what was originally called a lower-leg injury after Ravens EDGE Mike Green collided with Banks’ legs on his way to sack Tyler Shough. The No. 9 overall pick of the 2025 NFL Draft has started every game he’s appeared in since being drafted and was replaced by Asim Richards.

Dolphins declared QB Brady Cook, DE Chop Robinson, WR Jalen Tolbert, OL DJ Campbell, CB Marcellus Dial Jr., TE Justin Joly, and OT Chukwuebuka Godrick inactive for Week 2 against the 49ers.

Robinson remains in concussion protocol and was ruled out earlier in the week. Interestingly, Jalen Tolbert remains unable to be active on a Dolphins team that is hurting for weapons on offense. A lot of it has to do with him not having a clear role on special teams.

49ers declared QB Kurtis Rourke, WR Jordan Watkins, CB Ephesians Prysock, LB Tatum Bethuneand OL Enrique Cruz Jr. inactive for Week 2 against the Dolphins.

It was reported earlier in the day that Black was expected to play, and now we get confirmation that he will. The rookie had 14 carries in his NFL debut in Week 1, and it remains to be seen if that will be the 49ers’ plan going forward or if that had something to do with Christian McCaffrey cramping or the entire team traveling abroad to Australia for the first game.

The Seahawks declared QB Sam Darnold, S Ty Okada, LB Connor O’Toole, OG Anthony Bradford, WR Montorie Foster and DE Mike Morris inactive for Week 2 against the Cardinals.

The Seahawks ruled out Darnold (glute) and Okada (hamstring) on Friday. Bradford (knee) entered the weekend questionable to play, but his injury will keep him sidelined. Fortunately, the Seahawks are getting S Nick Emmanwori (ankle/hip) back this afternoon.

Seahawks S Nick Emmanwori (ankle/hip) is active for Week 2 against the Cardinals.

The Seahawks’ star defensive back makes his 2026 debut against the Cardinals this afternoon. Still recovering from his offseason ankle surgery, Emmanwori missed the Seahawks’ Week 1 game against the Patriots. He picked up a hip injury this week, but is evidently good to go.

Jakobi Meyers (thumb) is active for Week 2 against the Jaguars.

Both Meyers and Brian Thomas, Jr. (shoulder) are good to go after missing some practice time this week. Meyers should be a WR3 option against a tough Denver secondary while Thomas will continue operating as the Jags’ primary downfield option. Jaguars declared QB Quinn Ewers, WR CJ Williams, S Jalen Huskey, LB Jack Kiser, G Daniel Faalele, TE Tanner Koziol, and DE Wesley Williams inactive against Denver.

Cowboys declared LB DeMarvion Overshown, CB Caelen Carson, S Malik Hooker, RB Tyler Goodson, LB James Houston, OL Ajani Cornelius, and WR Camden Brown inactive for Week 2 against the Commanders.

Nothing surprising here, as Overshown and Hooker were both ruled out before the weekend, leaving the Cowboys without two starters on the defensive side of the ball. The Cowboys and Commanders are both looking to pick up a win this weekend to avoid starting 0-2 what projects to be a tough NFC East.

Commanders declared LB Frankie Luvu, WR Luke McCaffrey, QB Athan Kaliakmanis, CB Isaac Yiadom, DT Ricky Barber, OG Tanoa Togiai, and TE Chig Okonkwo inactive for Week 2 against the Cowboys.

Both Luvu and Okonkwo were ruled out before the weekend. All other key players for the Commanders are active as they look to avoid going 0-2 in the division to start the season against the Cowboys.

Patriots EDGE Dre’Mont Jones (shoulder) was ruled out of Week 2 against the Steelers.

Jones left with a shoulder injury in the second quarter of the Patriots’ Week 2 game against the Steelers. He headed to the locker room and was later ruled out of the game after halftime. A banged-up Pats defense will now be without a starting pass-rusher in Jones for the rest of Week 2 and potentially beyond.
