USC sophomore WR Mario Williams plans to play baseball next spring.
Williams (5'9/186) claims his love for the diamond is equal to his love of the gridiron and will pursue that passion next spring. When asked about his two-sport aspirations, he said “Next year, I’ll play (baseball), “I couldn’t play this year. With baseball, you can’t transfer and play instantly, so I had to wait until next year. I play outfield (center).” Williams indicated he was a top of the order hitter who was a stolen base threat due to his elite speed. He cited baseball’s longevity as being appealing to him and that the game is so heavily driven by technique. Regardless of what he does next year Williams was a standout performer this spring for the Trojans, catching two touchdown passes from fellow Oklahoma transfer, Caleb Williams.
