  • KC Quarterback #15
Chiefs restructured the contract of Patrick Mahomes and will pay him a guaranteed $210.6 million through 2026.
The deal effectively shortens Mahomes’ contract from eight seasons to three seasons, with a plan to revisit his deal at the end of 2026. The $210.6 million that will be owed to Mahomes over the next four seasons sets a new NFL record, which seems fitting for the two time MVP and Super Bowl Champion. Through two games this season, Mahomes has thrown for 531-4-2, and pulled out a tough win in Week 2 over the Jaguars.
  • PHI Running Back #0
NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo reports the Eagles will “ride the hot hand” at running back.
D’Andre Swift is coming off a 28-carry, 175-yard outing versus the Vikings, but that was without Kenneth Gainwell active. Gainwell is back in the lineup for Week 3. Swift only saw two touches when Gainwell was available in Week 1. This is ultimately a messy situation for fantasy purposes, but Swift’s Week 2 explosion should give him a slight edge over Gainwell this week.
  • Jax Wide Receiver #7
Jaguars declared WR Zay Jones, WR Parker Washington, WR Elijah Cooks, RB JaMycal Hasty, and S Antonio Johnson inactive for Week 3 against the Texans.
Jones missed multiple practices this week and is now out, leaving Calvin Ridley and Christian Kirk as Trevor Lawrence’s top-two targets against the Texans. WR Jacob Harris was elevated from the practice squad to make up for the three wide receiver inactives.
  • BUF Defensive Tackle #98
Bills declared CB Kaiir Elam, DT Poona Ford, S Damar Hamlin, OL Germain Ifedi, and OL Alec Anderson inactive for Week 3 against the Commanders.
While Kaiir Elam gets a lot of attention for being inactive since he was Buffalo’s first round pick last year; however, Poona Ford may be the bigger name. Ford was active for each of Buffalo’s first two games but will take a seat in Week 3 with the Bills choosing to activate DE Kingsley Jonathan instead. The choice signals that Buffalo is opting to go with an extra pass-rusher than they have the first two games. It signals how valuable Buffalo thinks getting pressure on Sam Howell will be; however, if the rain comes in the middle of the game, as expected, and this becomes a game about controlling the running games, the Bills could miss Ford.
  • NYJ Defensive Back #22
Jets declared S Tony Adams, RB Israel Abanikanda, WR Jason Brownlee, OG Wes Schweitzer, LB Zaire Barnes, and CB Bryce Hall in active for Week 3 against the Patriots.
Adams’ absence is a slight boon for Mac Jones and the New England passing offense. The Jets will continue splitting the backfield workload between Dalvin Cook and Breece Hall with Abanikanda inactive.
  • CLE Running Back #27
Browns RB Kareem Hunt is active for Week 3 against the Titans.
Hunt should be ready to go as Jerome Ford’s backup. We would not expect Hunt to see enough touches for Week 3 FLEX relevance, but that could change in the coming weeks. Inactive for the Browns are CB Greg Newsome, S Ronnie Hickman, C Luke Wypler, DE Isaiah McGuire, DT Siaki Ika and OT James Hudson.
  • WAS Tight End #82
Logan Thomas (concussion) is inactive for Week 3 against the Bills.
Thomas was ruled out on Friday after suffering a concussion last week against the Broncos. In his stead, the Commanders will turn to Cole Turner and John Bates in a game that could get wet and sloppy around halftime due to inclement weather. Also inactive for the Commanders are: WR Mitchell Tinsley, TE Curtis Hodges, T Trent Scott, G Chris Paul, and DE KJ Henry.
  • NE Wide Receiver #80
Patriots declared WR Kayshon Boutte, QB Will Grier, OT Sidy Sow, OT Tyrone Wheatley Jr., and CB Jonathan Jones inactive for Week 3 against the Jets.
It looks like the Patriots will continue rolling with the wideout rotation of DeVante Parker, Kendrick Bourne, and Demario Douglass. None of these receivers has much fantasy appeal against a stellar Jets defense. Parker operated as the team’s WR1 last week against the Dolphins.
  • ATL Running Back #84
Falcons declared RB Cordarelle Patterson, CB Clark Phillips, OL Jovaughn Gwyn, OL Isaiah Prince, DL Albert Huggins, and DL Joe Gaziano inactive for Week 3 against the Lions.
Cornerback Jeff Okudah is active. Patterson is dealing with a thigh issue and the Falcons have slow-played the veteran’s return. He will look to retake the field in Week 4 against the Jags.
  • BAL Wide Receiver #3
Ravens declared WR Odell Beckham Jr., RB Justice Hill, S Marcus Williams, EDGE Odafe Oweh, C Tyler Linderbaum, LT Ronnie Stanley, and CB Marlon Humphrey inactive for Week 3 against the Colts.
All of the Ravens’ inactives are key players dealing with a myriad of injuries. OBJ (ankle) and Hill (toe) were ruled out on Friday, which could pave the ways for Gus Edwards and Rashod Bateman to have more impactful days for fantasy. Edwards can be treated as a touchdown-dependent RB2, while Rashod Bateman is a fringe WR3/WR4 in what looks like a very wet day in Baltimore.
  • DEN Linebacker #55
Broncos declared LB Frank Clark, S Justin Simmons, S JL Skinner, C Alex Forsyth, DE Ronnie Perkins, DL Elijah Garcia inactive for Week 3 against the Dolphins.
The Broncos defense limps into Miami to take on a supercharged Miami offense. Without Clark — who’s expected to miss a few weeks with a hip injury — and two safeties, the Dolphins could march up and down the field against the Broncos, creating a shootout environment.
