C.J. Stroud completed 30-of-42 passes for 470 yards and five touchdowns in the Texans’ 39-37, Week 9 win over the Bucs.
Stroud put on a show for nearly four quarters, picking apart the Bucs’ defense at every turn with deep throws to the outside, middle, and everywhere between. He took it to another level on Houston’s final drive of the game. With under a minute left on the clock, Stroud completed all five of his pass attempts (excluding a spike) for 75 yards and a walk-off touchdown to Tank Dell. The Tampa Bay defense knew exactly what they needed to do to win the game and simply couldn’t stop Stroud from finding the most minor openings in their coverage. The final drive also gave Stroud the NFL record for passing yards in a game by a rookie and tied him with four other quarterbacks for the single-game touchdown record among rookies. Coming off a historic performance against a solid Tampa Bay defense, Stroud will rank as a QB1 in Week 10 against the Bengals.
