Vikings HC Kevin O’Connell said an MRI revealed a torn Achilles for RB Cam Akers, ending his season.
It’s yet another brutal blow for Akers, who suffered a torn Achilles in 2021 and missed nearly all of the regular season as a result. After being phased out by the Rams early in the season, the Vikings went out and acquired Akers as a backup to Alexander Mattison. A disappointing rushing line of 60-167-2 is what Akers will carry into the offseason, as he now looks to rehab in hopes of bouncing back from the latest setback.
