Steelers signed West Virginia CB Beanie Bishop.
Bishop (5’9/180) is a sixth-year prospect who spent time at Western Kentucky, Minnesota, and West Virginia. In his lone season with the Mountaineers last season, Bishop allowed 646 receiving yards and five touchdowns on 48 receptions, but he also led all FBS players with 24 passes defended, forced four interceptions, and was a consensus All-American by season’s end. His lack of size likely makes him better suited for a slot corner role, but he played only 326 of his 2,081 defensive snaps from the slot during his college career. Bishop also returned 32 kicks for 799 yards in his career, and could also get a chance to compete on special teams.
