Bears hired former Chiefs OC Eric Bieniemy for their vacant RBs coach position.
Bieniemy joins Ben Johnson’s staff in Chicago amidst a complete retool of the coaching ranks. He coached for the UCLA Bruins in 2024 after a one-year stint as the offensive coordinator for the Commanders and a five-year stint with the Chiefs during the early portion of Patrick Mahomes’ career. The hiring appears to be a leap of faith by the Bears after Bieniemy was fired after just one season in each of his previous two positions across multiple levels, with Bieniemy now looking to reestablish a coaching presence in the NFL.
  • BUF Quarterback #17

Josh Allen was named the 2024 Associated Press Most Valuable Player.
It’s one of the closer MVP votes you’ll see, as Allen narrowly defeated Lamar Jackson with 27 first-place votes and 383 possible points and Jackson receiving 23 first-place nods and 362 points. Saquon Barkley finished third. Allen threw for 3,731 yards with 28 passing touchdowns and also rushed for a dozen scores with 531 yards on the ground. Jackson was also spectacular, but the fact that he had already won the award twice likely played a factor in the decision.
  • MIN Head Coach #8
Kevin O’Connell was named NFL Coach of the Year.
O’Connell and the Vikings flamed out in the postseason, but the 39-year-old was able to lead Minnesota to a 14-3 record even with most pundits projecting the team nowhere close to playoff contention. Dan Campbell finished second in voting, with Andy Reid pulling in third.
  • FA Tight End #85
Antonio Gates, Jared Allen, Eric Allen and Sterling Sharpe were named to the 2025 NFL Hall of Fame class.
Eli Manning was not elected in his first year on the ballot. Gates is widely viewed as one of the greatest tight ends to ever play the sport, and finished his career with 955 receptions and 116 receiving touchdowns. Sharpe — brother of tight end Shannon Sharpe — was dominant before his career ended short due to a neck injury, while both Allens were defensive stalwarts during their time.
  • LAR Linebacker #8
Jared Verse was named Defensive Rookie of the Year.
Verse was named the winner of the award after receiving 37 of the 50 first-place votes. The 24-year-old was a force for the Los Angeles defense in 2024 while picked up 4.5 sacks and four forced fumbles; and those numbers really don’t tell the story of how impactful he was while helping the Rams to a division title. Quinyon Mitchell finished second with nine first-place votes, and Verse’s teammate Braden Fiske finished third.
  • CIN Quarterback #9
Joe Burrow was named NFL Comeback Player of the Year.
Burrow was unsurprisingly the winner while receiving 31-of-50 first-place votes. The 28-year-old signal-caller was superb with a 43/9 TD/INT ratio and 4,918 yards after playing in just 10 games in 2024. J.K. Dobbins finished second in voting with Sam Darnold placing third.
  • PHI Running Back #26
Saquon Barkley was named Offensive Player of the Year.
Barkley took home the award while receiving 35 of the 50 possible first-place vote. Lamar Jackson was a distant second with 12 first-place nods, and Ja’Marr Chase finished third despite not receiving any. Barkley had a historic season in his first year with the Eagles, and he’ll have a chance to add a Super Bowl ring on Sunday to this award.
  • DEN Defensive Back #2
Patrick Surtain II was named Defensive Player of the Year.
Eight different players received first-place votes, but Surtain II took home 26 of those tallies. The 24-year-old corner was outstanding in 2024 with four interceptions, 11 passes passes defended and a forced fumble while helping the Broncos reach the postseason. Trey Hendrickson finished second with 11 first-place votes, with Myles Garrett finishing third with five of his own.
  • WAS Quarterback #5
Jayden Daniels was named Offensive Rookie of the Year.
Of course he was. Daniels had one of the best rookie campaigns ever; leading the Commanders for the NFC Title and impressing with his poise in the pocket and ability to make plays with his legs outside of it. He should be in the MVP conversation in the coming years based on everything he showed as a rookie in 2024. Daniels received 49-of-50 first-place votes, with Brock Bowers receiving the other. Bo Nix finished a distant third.
  • PHI Tight End #88
Dallas Goedert (ankle) was a full participant in Thursday’s practice.
That makes back-to-back full practices for Goedert ahead of the finale against the Chiefs. Even if he’s not 100 percent, there’s no reason to believe he won’t be suiting up in New Orleans come Sunday.
  • PHI Running Back #14
Kenneth Gainwell (knee/concussion) was a full participant in Thursday’s practice.
Gainwell getting a full session in is a great sign for him being available for the Super Bowl against Kansas City on Sunday, but not a guarantee. The 25-year-old will be the backup to Saquon Barkley if/when he is able to go for the finale.
