Texans GM Nick Caserio said the “door is always open” for Stefon Diggs to return to the team.
Speaking on Sports Radio 610 on Wednesday, Caserio spoke on Diggs’ impending free agency, saying that the team is “going to be open-minded” in the coming weeks while adding that the team will leave the door open for Diggs. While it’s possible this is Caserio saying the “right thing” in a public forum, there’s no denying the Texans could be thin at receiver in 2025. Nico Collins remains a stud, catching 68 passes for 1,006 yards and seven touchdowns in just 12 games, but the devastating knee injury Tank Dell suffered in Week 16 will sideline him for the start of next season, and it may already have his entire 2025 season in jeopardy. Diggs went for 47-496-3 in his eight games with the Texans before a torn ACL ended his season, but he still averaged 62 yards per game while being targeted on 23 percent of his routes run. He’ll be 31 at the start of next season, and while his best years are likely behind him, Diggs could make for a very nice WR2 for several teams and would give C.J. Stroud a familiar and reliable target for one more season opposite Collins.
  • NYJ Tight End #85

Jets TE Mason Taylor (neck) has been ruled out for Week 18 against the Bills.
No surprise here as Taylor hasn’t played since Week 14 due to a neck injury. The 21-year-old tight end finished his rookie season with 44 receptions, 369 yards and a touchdown. With improved health and quarterback play, things should be looking up for Taylor in 2026.
Can Nabers be counted on coming off knee injury?
Matthew Berry, Jay Croucher and Connor Rogers share if Trey McBride should be a first-round pick in fantasy next year, how Malik Nabers could play with Jaxson Dart and why Justin Jefferson can still be a weapon in 2026.
  • FA Head Coach
ESPN’s Jordan Raanan reports the Giants are expected to interview a bevy of candidates for their open head coaching position that includes former coaches Mike McCarthy, Antonio Pierce and others.
McCarthy didn’t coach in 2025 after a five-year stint with the Cowboys. He has the most experience of anyone on the Giants’ list, which also includes Packers defensive coordinator Jeff Hafley, Colts defensive coordinator Lou Anarumo, former Raiders coach and Giants player Antonio Pierce and Rams defensive coordinator Chris Shula. Raanan passes along that GM Joe Schoen is leading the coaching search and multiple sources believe he’s coming back next year, so the Giants have that going for them after a Schoen oversaw a 6-27 record in the last two years. Norte Dame’s Marcus Freeman removed his name from consideration for the Giants job earlier this week. New York’s coaching search seems to be centered around quantity rather than quality at this point.
  • NE Coaching Staff
NFL Network’s Cameron Wolfe reports that Patriots pass game coordinator and TE coach Thomas Brown is going to get “a bunch” of a head coaching interviews.
The Bears gave Brown two in-season promotions after hiring him as their pass game coordinator in 2024. He was first elevated to offensive coordinator before eventually taking over as the team’s interim head coach. He served as the Panthers’ offensive coordinator in 2023 after coaching in multiple roles under head coach Sean McVay with the Rams from 2020-2022. Per Wolfe, Brown has helped the Patriots incorporate pre-snap motion and tight end-usage concepts learned under McVay. Per Wolfe, “he is ready to run his own ship.”
  • JAC Defensive Coordinator
NFL Network’s Cameron Wolfe reports there is mutual interest between Jaguars DC Anthony Campanile and the Titans regarding Tennessee’s head coaching vacancy.
Per Wolfe, Campanile has become a player favorite with the Jaguars, and LB Devin Lloyd credits Campanile with his development. Campanile has had quite the year. The Jaguars hired him as their defensive coordinator roughly 11 months ago. In early October, ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler put Campanile on his shortlist of “young defensive coaches” who could be head coaching candidates.
  • DEN Wide Receiver #13
Broncos WR Pat Bryant (concussion) practiced fully on Thursday.
Bryant is progressing through the NFL’s concussion protocol and should be able to play in Week 18 against the Chargers, though the Chargers are expected to rest some starters, which could result in an easy run-heavy win for the Broncos. The Broncos (13-3) currently hold the AFC’s No. 1 playoff seed. They can retain it with a win.
  • LAC Running Back #30
Chargers RB Kimani Vidal (neck) practiced fully on Thursday.
Vidal could get the start this week with RB Omarion Hampton (ankle) sidelined by an ankle injury. The team could choose to preserve Vidal’s health for the postseason, though. Rotational RB Jaret Patterson is healthy and Hassan Haskins (concussion) remains limited.
  • LAC Running Back #8
Chargers RB Omarion Hampton (ankle) did not practice on Thursday.
Chargers head coach Jim Harbaugh told reporters earlier this week that getting his injured players healthy is his priority. With two absences to begin the week, Hampton seems unlikely to play this week. It is unclear whether rotational backup Jaret Patterson will get the start. Chargers No. 2 RB Kimani Vidal (neck) upgraded to full today while RB Hassan Haskins (concussion) remains limited.
  • LA Running Back #22
Rams RB Blake Corum (ankle) did not practice on Thursday.
Corum is firmly on the wrong side of questionable at this point and the Rams have already secured a playoff spot. Starting RB Kyren Williams (ankle) is nursing an ankle injury. If both players are declared inactive, rookie RB Jarquez Hunter could get the start.
  • LA Running Back #23
Rams RB Kyren Williams (ankle) was limited on Thursday.
Williams’ backup, RB Blake Corum (ankle), has not yet practiced this week and the Rams are already headed to the playoffs. Rams rookie RB Jarquez Hunter could see live action this week against the Cardinals, if the coaching staff opts to preserve Williams’ health for the postseason.
  • ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports that the Dolphins hired “Hall-of-Fame QB and ESPN analyst Troy Aikman as a consultant” to assist in the team’s search for a new general manager.
This “is not a permanent role” for Aikman. He is expected to continue providing insights for ESPN. Per Schefter, the Dolphins’ ownership wants “an outside respected perspective from someone who had strong relationships across the league.” That latter part could be key. Aikman is undoubtedly plugged into multiple front offices and may be able to help the Dolphins identify an up-and-comer from another personnel department.
