Commanders selected UCLA LB Kain Medrano with the No. 205 overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft.

Medrano’s (6'3/222) 4.46-second 40-yard dash made him the Combine’s fastest linebacker, and he demonstrated elite overall athleticism (9.83 RAS) throughout the testing process. The 24-year-old Medrano was a two-year starter in Westwood. Although Medrano (6’3/222) is primarily a box defender, he also served as a part-time EDGE rusher and slot-coverage defender, tallying 22 quarterback pressures, three sacks, four forced incompletions and two interceptions. He gets downhill quickly in run defense but can be bullied by blockers and powerful ball carriers. His 27 missed tackles in 2024 were a positional high in the Power Five. He posted career bests in both solo tackles (63) and TFLs (14) last year. Medrano is perhaps best suited to a strong safety role while operating as a special teams fixture.

NBC Houston’s Aaron Wilson reports David Montgomery (groin) will not play in Week 7 against the Giants.

This will be the second game in a row that Montgomery has missed due to the groin injury he suffered in Week 5. Woody Marks, who totaled 17 touches in last week’s win over the Jaguars will again lead the Texans’ backfield. He has averaged 18.0 touches per game over the last two weeks and will be a volume-based RB2 with a chance at significant upside. Safeties Jalen Pitre (AC joint) and S Reed Blankenship (concussion) will also miss this week’s game against the Giants, putting the Texans down a handful of starters with one game left before their Week 8 bye.

Emeka Egbuka (concussion/foot) was seen practicing on Friday.

Egbuka missed the first two practices of the week, but could have a shot at suiting up after appearing on the practice field Friday. Head coach Todd Bowles should give an update on Egbuka shortly after practice, so we’ll check back on his official status once we have word on his Week 7 availability. Whether or not he has a chance to play will largely depend on the team’s independent neurologists clearing him from the league’s concussion protocol.

Jets head coach Aaron Glenn said Adonai Mitchell (finger) will play in Week 7 against the Dolphins.

Mitchell has been sidelined since injuring his finger in preparation for the Jets’ Week 3 game against the Lions. It was incredibly unfortunate time for Mitchell and his fantasy managers, as his injury came just days after he went for 6-63-0 on 12 targets against the Packers. Mitchell’s return could complicate things for Omar Cooper’s fantasy managers after Cooper broke out for 6-103-1 against the Patriots last week. The Jets rank 13th in the league in plays run from 11-personnel (209) through the first six weeks of the season, which means both Mitchell and Cooper should see plenty of snaps. That said, neither player should be viewed as anything more than a WR3/FLEX play until we see how the target distribution looks with both players active.

Jets head coach Aaron Glenn said Breece Hall (quad) will be questionable for Week 7 against the Dolphins.

Glenn said Hall will be limited in Friday’s practice and that the team will “see how that goes” to close out the week. Hall has missed the last three games with his quad injury but the fact he is closing out the week with two-straight limited practices suggests he’ll be a true game-time decision entering Sunday. If he’s unable to play, Braelon Allen would again serve as the primary back in the Jets’ backfield and would be a fringe RB1/RB2 in what is shaping up to be a plus matchup against the lowly Dolphins.

Jaylen Wright (foot) will play in Week 7 against the Jets.

Wright has rushed 14 times for 28 scoreless yards this season and has yet to receive a target in the four games he has appeared in. Fellow running back Ollie Gordon has emerged as the unquestioned RB1 for the Dolphins since the team lost De’Von Achane (knee) in Week 3. Wright is well off the fantasy radar at this point.

Dolphins WR Caleb Douglas (ankle) will play in Week 7 against the Jets.

Douglas hasn’t played since Week 2 against the 49ers, but the rookie caught five passes for 94 yards in his pro debut against the Raiders and has been targeted on 16.4 percent of his routes. Stuck in a Dolphins offense that currently ranks 31st in scoring and passing yards, Douglas will be hard to trust as anything more than a fringe WR3/WR4 this week against a top-five Jets pass defense.

T.J. Watt (calf) was removed from the Steelers’ Week 7 injury report and will play against the Saints.

Watt popped up on Thursday’s injury report with a calf injury and was listed as limited. On Friday, he was upgraded to a full participant in what was an estimated report, but he does not carry an injury status heading into the weekend. S DeShon Elliott (knee) is listed as questionable but was listed as a full participant throughout the week.

Alvin Kamara (back) was removed from the injury report for Week 7’s game against the Steelers.

Kamara was still listed as limited in Friday’s practice, but the Saints feel confident enough in his health to clear him for Week 7. Kamara found the end zone last week on a 31-yard reception, but has largely been inefficient with his touches this season. He seen 14 opportunities to Kendre Miller’s 30 over the last two weeks and will be hard to trust as anything more than a touchdown-dependent RB3 against the Steelers. The only players on the Saints carrying injury designations into the weekend are guard Cesar Ruiz (knee) and DL Nathan Sheperd (illness). Both are listed as questionable.

NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reports Puka Nacua’s calf injury is not considered “a significant injury.”

As far as Nacua’s long-term status goes, this sounds like good news overall. However, Rapoport also noted that Nacua’s status for Sunday’s game against the Raiders could be “up in the air.” With Friday’s practice still to go, Nacua’s status will be one to look for later in the day, as will his designation entering the weekend. If he draws a questionable tag, fantasy managers should treat him as a true game-day decision and have a backup plan in place should be unable to play this week. Given the 4:25 PM EST start time for this game, Rams WR Konata Mumpfield could be on a short list of players worth stashing until we know more about Nacua’s availability.
