Tyreek Hill said he “didn’t understand” the Dolphins’ offense in his first three seasons in Miami and suggested the team bench De’Von Achane in short-yardage situations.
One would think the Dolphins would have thought to coach Hill on podium tactics by now. Evidently, they have not. Hill credits new WR coach Robert Prince and new senior passing game coordinator Bobby Slowik with helping him understand the Dolphins’ scheme, adding that he is now taking notes in team meetings for the first time in his career. This can be read as a player creating excuses following a down year. Whether Prince and Slowik can actually help Hill turn back the clock remains to be seen. Regarding the Achane
comments, we doubt head coach Mike McDaniel views Hill as a trusted advisor, and although Hill made his comments with a smile, comments like this are unlikely to regain trust lost in the locker room. Jaylen Wright and Ollie Gordon, specifically, may feel differently.
