Jets HC Aaron Glenn said “I have time to make that decision” when asked if Justin Fields would remain the team’s QB1 after the bye week.
After weeks of gaslighting the public about the quality of Fields’ performances through the first seven weeks of the season, the embattled signal-caller finally put together a legitimately good game that resulted in a comeback win over the Bengals. Instead of taking the chance to have his “I told you so” moment with the media on Monday, Glenn, as has become par for the course early in his head coaching career, decided to offer up vague non-answers as to where things stand in his QB room entering the bye week. Regardless of what Glenn is choosing to say right now, it’s hard to imagine Fields’ performance didn’t buy him at least one more start when the team returns in Week 10 to face the Browns. It’s possible we don’t get a clear answer from Glenn until hours before the Jets play their next game, but we will assume for now that Fields has the job after the bye.
