From the 10th-to-last pairing, World No. 33 Bryson DeChambeau birdied his final three toward a 6-under 35-31=66 in R4 of The 150th Open at St Andrews to conclude on 12-under 276, up 10 places to T8 with play winding down.
The 28-year-old, who arrived off a solo 10th two weeks ago at LIV Portland, was T55 on 1-under at halftime (69-74), one inside the cut line, but rallies with weekend laps of 67-66, including today’s seven-birdie, one-bogey showing. It’s his first top 25 at The Open in five tries (T33/2021) and overall, his third top in 24 majors, first since his lone major victory at the 120th U.S. Open (Sep. 2020) eight major starts ago. Afterwards (link below): “Making birdie on the last, kind of finishing the way I know how to do, it’s going to give me a lot of confidence in these next LIV events.” For the week, the 28-year-old totaled one eagle and 19 birdies, the eagle and 12 of those birdies coming on the weekend, against seven bogeys and a double.
