Former major league reliever Felipe Vazquez was sentenced Tuesday to serve up to two to four years for the sexual assault of a 13-year-old girl.
He will also serve an additional two years of probation. Vazquez has already served 23 months in jail following his arrest in September of 2019. He was found guilty of 15 counts by a jury in Westmoreland County, PA in May, including statutory sexual assault, unlawful contact with minor, corruption of minors, and indecent assault. He will be eligible for parole next month, but still faces criminal charges in Florida and Missouri for his relationship with the teenager.

Felipe Vazquez was found guilty of 15 counts on Thursday involving charges faced last summer.
Those counts include statutory sexual assault, unlawful contact with minor, corruption of minors, and indecent assault. He was found not guilty of 10 charges of unlawful contact or communication with a minor. This stems from a child pornography case and an arrest in September of 2019 over a sexual relationship with a 13-year-old girl in 2017; a relationship he reportedly admitted to. Vazquez faces jail time and possible deportation.

Felipe Vazquez is facing an additional child pornography charge for sending pornographic pictures of himself to a minor last summer while in St. Louis.
It’s believed that the victim is the same juvenile involved in the Pennsylvania and Florida cases. All told, Vazquez is facing over 20 charges involving sex crimes with minors. He is currently on administrative leave from the Pirates and faces possible deportation if found guilty of any/all of the charges.

Felipe Vazquez is facing 21 new charges by prosecutors based on child pornography found on devices he owned.
Vazquez faces 10 charges of child pornography, 10 charges of unlawful contact with a minor and a single charge of corruption of minors. The 28-year-old is currently on administrative leave from the Pirates, and faces possible deportation if found guilty of any/all of the charges brought against him.

Felipe Vazquez faces possible deportation if convicted of the sex crime charges brought forth against him.
Vazquez is charged with computer pornography, solicitation of a child, and one count of providing obscene material to minors. Louise Radnofsky and Jared Diamond report that the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement are tracking the charges. They also report that deportation could become difficult because of the unstable relationship between The United States and Venezuela; namely president Nicolas Maduro. Vazquez is currently on administrative leave while the investigation into the charges continue.

Felipe Vazquez admitted to police on Tuesday that he had a sexual encounter with a 13-year-old girl in 2017.
That update on the situation comes from a criminal complaint released Wednesday in Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania. There are more (very graphic and unsettling) details at the sourced link below. Vazquez has been placed on administrative leave by Major League Baseball and is likely facing significant jail time on charges of statutory sexual assault, unlawful contact with a minor, corruption of minors, and indecent assault of a person less than 16 years old. He is probably finished as a professional athlete.

Jeff Passan of ESPN reports that Felipe Vazquez is being put on administrative leave by MLB following his arrest.
Vazquez was arrested Tuesday morning on charges of computer pornography, solicitation of a child, and one count of providing obscene material to minors. The legal process will now unfold, but these are very serious charges and his future in baseball is secondary to ramifications of his alleged disturbing conduct.

Pirates closer Felipe Vazquez has been arrested on charges of computer pornography, solicitation of a child, and one count of providing obscene material to minors.
Shocking and disturbing news. Vazquez was taken into custody in Pittsburgh on Tuesday morning on a felony warrant out of Lee County, Florida. According to information from police, an investigation began after word of a sexual relationship with a 13-year-old girl. The girl is now 15 years old and Vazquez continued to keep in contact via text message and videos, allegedly promising that they would meet up for a sexual encounter after the season. Vazquez was taken to the Allegheny County Jail, where he’s expected to be sent back to Florida to face the charges.

Felipe Vazquez closed out the Giants for the second consecutive day on Thursday, working a scoreless ninth inning to protect a two-run advantage.
He earned his 28th save of the season for his efforts -- though it didn’t come easy. The left-hander allowed a leadoff walk to Joey Rickard and a single to Donovan Solano, putting the tying runs on base to begin the inning. He battled back though to set the next three hitters down in order -- including strikeouts of Austin Slater and Mike Yasztremski. He now boasts a 1.65 ERA and 0.93 WHIP across 60 innings on the season.

Felipe Vazquez slammed the door on the Giants in the ninth inning on Wednesday, preserving a three-run lead to earn his 27th save of the season.
Vazquez recorded one strikeout and needed only six pitches to finish off the Giants. The 28-year-old southpaw has been utterly dominant in the second half, allowing only two earned runs over 20 2/3 innings of work since the All-Star break. He owns a microscopic 1.68 ERA, 0.92 WHIP and 88/12 K/BB ratio across 59 innings of work this season. He’s one of the most dominant closers in fantasy baseball.
