It’s his first Top 10 since the Honda Classic back in March. Hopefully he can get it rolling and stay hot for a while. It could very well have been the fact that he grew up not far from the event. It’s like his 5th major he says. He’s really helped my fantasy team this year. NOT!

The smooth putter last made a cut in a PGA TOUR event in August of 2010 at the Turning Stone Resort Championship. Faxon is likely playing this week because it is near his home in Rhode Island. It is also one of the shortest courses on TOUR.

Consequently, the last time we saw the 2005 champion of this event on the PGA TOUR was in the 2012 edition. His history here would be unforgettable if not for his win, owning just three top 10s in 28 starts. Things have gone well for the smooth putter on the Champions Tour this year, picking up a win at the Liberty Mutual Insurance Legends of Golf.

UPDATE: Play is scheduled to resume at 2:30 p.m. CT. The threat for rain and thunderstorms was in the forecast today, but electricity in the air was the primary reason the golfers were ordered off the course. TPC Four Seasons was in the path of a series of small storm cells that popped up, and a tornado watch has been issued for a wide area immediately south and east of the course. Brad Faxon went out in bogey-free, 2-under 33. When play resumes, he will be lining up his approach in the fairway at the par-4 10th hole.

He shot a personal best 61 on Sunday, storming from well back to pick up his first win in 22 tries in Hartford, and his first tour win since 2001.

The surgery has been talked about all year, and he finally decided to get it done. This has to be a disappointment for those of you planning on using him in the Tour Championship.

Faxon has had a terrible year as he trys to battle Lyme disease. He has been replaced in the field by Brett Geiberger, whose only made cut of the year came at the Mayakoba Classic.

No immediate reson was given for the withdrawal, but Faxon has been battling the effects of Lyme disease and 21 days of antibiotic treatment. He has missed eight of 10 cuts this year and now has a WD to add to that less than stellar list.

Faxon had two surgeries done- a bunionectomy and a nerve release on his tarsal tunnel. He will be in a cast for two weeks and he will not be able to play golf for three months, so his 2007 season is over. He will have an option next year of taking a top-25 career money list exemption or he may get a medical exemption based on injuries and a battle he has had with Lyme’s disease.

The Boston Globe announce that Brad Faxon was out of the Wyndham Championship with torn rib cartilage. Well, Faxon seems to have not read the notice of his demise because he did start this morning and is playing in Greensboro. He is sitting right now at 201st on the FedEx Cup points list and needs a good week to move up to the cut off line of 144th to play in the first round of the playoffs next week.
