PHOENIX – Rolex world No. 1 Lydia Ko closed out hard Saturday at the Bank of Hope Founders Cup to put together her best round of the year.

Ko birdied the final six holes to shoot 9-under-par 63, leaving her in a tie for the lead about three hours before the third round ended.

“I’m probably going to end up four or five shots behind by day’s end,” Ko said. “I think I will need to go super low again tomorrow.”

Ko was right with Anna Nordqvist closing out a 61 to move five shots ahead of her.

Ko hit all 14 fairways Saturday, but her iron play was particularly impressive. She hit 17 of 18 greens in regulation.

“I was hitting my shots into the greens really close,” Ko said.

Ko, who hasn’t made a bogey all week, is seeking her 15th LPGA title, her first since she won the Marathon Classic eight months ago.
