RANCHO MIRAGE, Calif. – Inbee Park has special memories winning the ANA Inspiration back in 2013, when it was called the Kraft Nabisco Championship. It’s the event that got her historic run started, when she won the first of three major championships that year.
Park said it is the best golf she has ever played.
“I’ve really got to be honest,” Park said. “That week, my game was nearly perfect.”
Park, 26, won the Kraft Nabisco by four shots that year.
“Right now, I don’t think I’m as good as that,” Park said. “I think I will get to that point sometime this year, but I think I was just a little bit unhappy with the ball striking last week. I feel like my putter was getting back a little bit, but last week was just a little bit off, and not where I wanted to be. But I saw the good signs with the putter last week, so yeah, if the putter works, I think I can still do it.”
Park, the Rolex world No. 2, will be looking to win the sixth major championship of her career this week. She says she doesn’t do anything special to get ready for majors. In fact, it’s just the opposite.
“I just try to do everything the same in my routine,” Park said. “I really don’t try to change anything because it’s a major. Before, I would try to do something special for the majors, do extra care in the major tournaments, and try to do something different, but every time I do that, it seems like I don’t play as well ... Just don’t try to treat it too special.”
