The PGA Tour confirmed what was already an open secret – that it will hold a new official 2017-18 event in South Korea.
At a news conference Monday in Seoul, the Tour and the CJ Corporation announced that the CJ Cup at Nine Bridges will be played Oct. 16-22, 2017, in South Korea.
The tournament will offer 500 FedExCup points to the winner and have a purse of $9.25 million in 2017. It will feature a field of 78 players, with 60 coming from the FedExCup points list. The remaining players, with many of the best Korean players represented, will come from a number of different exemptions to be named at a later date.
Also to be announced is the host site of the tournament.
This will be the third official PGA Tour tournament based in Asia, joining the WGC-HSBC Champions in Shanghai, China, and the CIMB Classic in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
