Kerr takes control at State Farm Classic

SPRINGFIELD, Illinois – Cristie Kerr shot a 9-under 63 in the weather-delayed third round to take a three-shot Sunday at the LPGA State Farm Classic.

Kerr birdied six of the 14 holes she had remaining after heavy rains and thunderstorms forced the suspension of the third round on Saturday.

She moved to 19-under 197, two strokes off her own 54-hole tournament scoring record, which she set in 2004 on the way to winning the event.

Kerr will begin the final round Sunday afternoon with a three-shot lead over Anna Nordqvist, who finished off a 65 to move into second place at 16-under 200.

Shanshan Feng also posted a 65 and was another stroke further back at 15-under 201.

M.J. Hur, who shared the lead with Kerr when the third round was suspended on Saturday, dropped into a tie for seventh place after posting a 71. She was six shots back.

The final round was already underway before the third round finished.
