Colin Jost misses hole-in-one by inches at American Century Championship

The American Century Championship has some familiar faces in contention in Lake Tahoe, but further down the leaderboard, one star nearly made the shot of the tournament on Saturday.

Actor and comedian Colin Jost teed off from the par-3 17th after starting on the 10th hole and nearly carded an ace when his ball rolled to within an inch of the cup.

The 44-year-old husband of actress Scarlett Johansson pumped his arms in the air before ripping off his sunglasses and embracing the crowds’ roars.

It’s a big week for Jost, who convinced his wife — along with their 5-year-old son Cosmo — to come to this year’s tournament.

“Well, Scarlett was like, ‘Baby, if you’re going to win this thing, I gotta be there. Like, I gotta see the champ in action.’ Because she kind of knew this was my year,” Jost said just three minutes before his near-hole-in-one.

Unfortunately for Jost, that shot at the 17th was by far his best through two rounds. He only has two birdies through 36 holes — both coming on Saturday — and his card is littered with bogeys and double bogeys, putting him out of contention in a stacked field.

As things stand, two-time champion Mardy Fish ('20, ’24) sits atop the leaderboard, with past winners Joe Pavelski, Steph Curry and Tony Romo within striking distance. Past runners-up Annika Sorenstam and John Smoltz are also in the mix.
