CROMWELL, Conn. – Patrick Cantlay’s first PGA Tour start as a professional didn’t go nearly as well as most of his appearances as an amateur.

After making the cut in seven of eight PGA Tour-sanctioned events prior to turning pro, Cantlay began his foray into the play-for-pay world by failing to earn a paycheck in his initial start.

It wasn’t all bad news for the UCLA product, though.

Following an opening-round 75 at the Travelers Championship, he posted a second-round 3-under 67 that included four birdies and just one bogey. He missed the cut by two strokes.

Last year at this event, he posted a second-round 60 en route to a share of 24th place.
