Speedback technology key to Cobra’s 2019 F9 offerings

With an eye on optimizing speed and performance, Cobra Golf will launch a new King F9 series of equipment in 2019 geared around its newly-christened “Speedback” technology.

The new look is most visible in the F9 driver, which features a notably squared outset near the back of the club head that Cobra calls the speedback. Its engineers believe this design best combines efficient aerodynamics that reduce drag along with maintaining a low center of gravity, thereby allowing players to make incremental gains in ball speed.

While the Speedback look is less pronounced in the other F9 clubs, the technology will carry throughout Cobra’s offerings of fairway woods, hybrids and irons which will be available to consumers beginning Jan. 18, 2019.

The F9 driver will feature the same milled face as last year’s F8 model, but the use of a larger carbon fiber crown, addition of two moveable weights to help control spin and ball flight and more rounded edges allow the new edition to move more efficiently than any of its Cobra predecessors.

The F9 driver will be available in three different stock loft options (9, 10.5 and 12 degrees), plus one each for women (12.5) and juniors (12.5). Each driver features adjustable draw, the ability to shift the loft as much as 1.5 degrees up or down, and will retail for $449.
