Noh stumbled out of the gate with a triple-bogey 8 at the par-5 11th, his second hole of the day. He bounced back with a birdie at 12 but lasted just three more holes after that before calling it quits with a back injury. The 32-year-old now has eight career mid-tournament WDs, in 225 events played. He has just one (stroke-play) top 25 this season, a T15 at The RSM Classic in the fall.

Noh entered the week with ho-hum results on the season, posting just one top 25 in 11 stroke-play events. He had everything working today, though, even fighting through a cracked driver head for part of his round. Noh gained 3.02 strokes on approach (3rd) and 6.51 strokes putting (1st). “Off the tee, missed two drivers because the crack of the driver head. Except two shots off the tee through the green, everything going perfectly today. One shot missed to 59, but I’m really happy with that.” Noh had 257 yards remaining after his drive on the closing, par-5 18th but elected to layup and secure a birdie instead of chasing the eagle for ’59'. This will be his fourth time posting a first-round lead or co-lead on the PGA TOUR but first since the 2017 Pebble Beach Pro-Am.

Moore is off to a 2-for-4 start this season with a T28 at the Shriners and a T48 at the Mayakoba. That puts him at 139th in the early FedExCup race. Moore is playing this season on a Top 50 Career Earnings exemption. That will allow him to set his schedule as he desires but he still needs to perform if he wants to avoid missing the Playoffs for a third straight season. He’s landed just three top 25s over the last two seasons, a sharp dropoff from his early career where he bagged at least five top 25s in 15 straight seasons.

The Aussie piled up seven birdies without dropping a shot to find himself tied for the third spot after regulation. He poured home an eagle during the playoff to get the job done. Baddeley is 6-for-8 at Silverado Resort and Spa, including a solo 4th during the 2018 edition. Other qualifiers include Club pro Taylor Lowe, Bay-area native Alex Lee, and Seung-yul Noh. Lee and Lowe will both be making their PGA TOUR debuts.

The 31-year-old Noh has made 22 starts this season, making 13 cuts with a best finish of T-30 at the Bermuda Championship in October. He had made four previous starts at Sedgefield CC and has never made the cut. For Lingmerth, the 35-year-old Swede will make his 14th start of the season, where he’s made nine cuts with one top 25 (T-16, Puerto Rico Open). Most recently, Lingmerth finished T-57 at the Rocket Mortgage. In four previous starts at Sedgefield, he’s made two cuts with a bet finish of 37th in 2018.

The 30-year-old Noh has missed the cut in his last two Tour starts, at the Zurich Classic and last week’s Mexico Open, and he’s 8-for-15 in cuts made on the season. His best finish to date this season was a T-30 at the Butterfield Bermuda Championship in October. Noh, who had made two cuts in five appearances at the Wells Fargo, began the season playing with a medical/family crisis extension dating to 2019 and had 16 starts to get 291 FedExCup points. Baddeley, who’s made three cuts in six starts this season, missed the cut last week in Mexico, but he finished T-18 one start prior, at the Valero Texas Open. In nine previous event appearances at the WFO, the 41-year-old Baddeley has made the cut seven times.

Noh was an 11th-hour WD last week in Houston and he’s not ready to return to action yet. The 30-year-old has four starts remaining on his Major Medical Extension and has a lot of work to do still (265.8 FedExCup Points required). He’s yet to find his old form since returning from mandatory military service and gamers can keep him sidelined until he flashes any sign of his old game which was strong enough to win the 2014 Zurich Classic.

He’s playing this week on a special medical exemption and sits 19th on the KFT Finals 25 list. In six PGA Tour starts this season, Noh made one cut in six starts, finishing T-54 at the Valero Texas Open in April.

This is the South Korean’s sixth mid-tourney WD in 186 events, first since the 2020 3M Open 10 months ago, which for him, was just six starts ago. Beginning off No. 10 tee, he was 3-over thru 16 holes (2 birdies, 5 bogeys), 6-over total after an opening 74, and four shy of the projected cut line when he called it a day. The Texas resident, who is in the published field at next week’s AT&T Byron Nelson at TPC Craig Ranch in McKinney, Texas, now has 16 starts remaining on the medical (mandatory military service) to earn 291.565 FedExCup points to meet the terms. He arrived 1-for-5 on the season with his lone cash a T54 in his most recent start at the Valero Texas Open five weeks ago (67-76-74-71), which earned him 5.86 FEC points. UPDATE: Noh has since withdrawn his name from the field at the AT&T Byron Nelson, replaced by alternate and Texan Shawn Stefani.
