The young Aussie has his status on the European Tour but his last six starts have all come on the PGA TOUR. Herbert has racked up 91 FedExCup Points, which does make him eligible for the Korn Ferry Tour Finals, but he’ll need 197 more just to earn Special Temporary Membership. During today’s qualifier, Herbert traded seven birdies with one bogey to finish third, safely avoiding the 4-for-1 playoff below him. Herbert impressed with a T18 at The Memorial Tournament and he’ll look to keep that momentum rolling this week. Currently sitting at 100th in the OWGR, he is looking to lockdown full status in the States. Others to qualify today included Stephen Stallings (-9), Seamus Power (-7), and Andrew Svododa (-5). Svoboda survived a four-way playoff with John Augenstein, Ryan Davis, and Mark Anderson.

The 41-year-old has 162 career PGA TOUR starts but this will be his first since the 2019 Honda Classic, an event which he also secured a seat through the Monday Q. Compton has been spending his time on the Korn Ferry circuit where he is 10-fo-18 this season with a pair of top 25s. Perhaps a big finish this week will refill his confidence tank down the stretch. Others to play their way in via Monday Q this week are Marcelo Rozo (-9), Zach Zaback (-7), and Stephen Stallings (-6). The latter had to oust Mickey DeMorat in a 2-for-1 playoff. Notables to fall short of qualifying included Justin Suh (-5), MJ Daffue (-5), Akshay Bhatia (-3), and Aaron Baddeley (-2).

Swift is rumored to be in town. But she was not at Spyglass Hill on Thursday, where Travis Kelce was playing with pro partner Keith Mitchell along with Mackenzie Hughes and retired NFL quarterback Alex Smith.
