Angels signed LHP Grant Dayton to a minor league contract.
Dayton exercised the opt-out clause in his minor league contract with the Marlins earlier this week and has already latched on with the Angels to bolster their organizational relief depth. The 34-year-old left-hander made 13 relief appearances last year with the Braves and compiled a solid 2.35 ERA, 0.98 WHIP and 24/5 K/BB ratio across 15 1/3 innings (12 appearances) this season at Triple-A Jacksonville.

Robert Murray of FanSided reports that Grant Dayton will exercise the opt-out clause in his minor league contract with the Marlins.
Dayton wasn’t able to secure a spot on the Marlins’ season-opening roster and will test the free agent waters after compiling a 3.77 ERA, 1.05 WHIP and 22/5 K/BB ratio across 14 1/3 innings (11 appearances) at Triple-A Jacksonville. There should be some interest in the 34-year-old lefty on the open market.

Marlins reassigned C Willians Astudillo, LHP Grant Dayton and RHP Shawn Armstrong to Triple-A Jacksonville.
The trio represent some of the final cuts from Marlins’ camp as they joined the Jumbo Shrimp for their season opener on Tuesday evening. Dayton and Armstrong represent quality organizational relief depth and should be up at some point this season. Astudillo is one of the most unique players in the sport and offers some defensive versatility, if needed at the highest level.

Marlins signed LHP Grant Dayton to a minor league contract with an invitation to spring training.
Dayton struggled with results and with shoulder problems last season with the Braves. The 34-year-old left-hander has mostly been good during his time in the majors but has yet to throw even 30 innings in any season.

Grant Dayton underwent surgery in September to clean up the AC joint in his left shoulder.
But the lefty reliever is expected to resume throwing within the next few weeks and is on track for a relatively normal offseason. Dayton was released by the Braves this past Saturday after making only 13 appearances during the 2021 season because of thigh and shoulder trouble.

    Braves released LHP Grant Dayton.
Dayton was limited to just 13 appearances last season due to thigh and shoulder issues. The 33-year-old lefty should be able to land a minor-league deal with an invite to spring training this offseason.

Braves transferred LHP Grant Dayton to the 60-day injured list.
A move to the 60-day injured list opens up a spot on the 40-man roster for Jonathan Lucroy. Dayton is out with left shoulder inflammation and has been since June, and he won’t be ready to pitch until the middle of August -- at the earliest.

Braves placed LHP Grant Dayton on the 10-day injured list with left shoulder inflammation.
Not good. There was zero indication that Dayton was dealing with anything recently, so there should be an update on his status at some point in the coming days. The 33-year-old southpaw has allowed 10 runs (nine earned) on 15 hits with a 14/6 K/BB ratio over 13 innings this season.

Braves activated LHP Grant Dayton from the 10-day injured list.
Dayton will return to the Braves’ bullpen on Wednesday evening against the Mets after missing exactly 10 days with thigh inflammation. The lefty reliever has a 5.00 ERA in nine innings this season.

Braves placed LHP Grant Dayton on the 10-day injured list with left thigh inflammation.
The move will be retroactive to May 9, and Sean Newcomb was recalled to take Dayton’s spot on the roster. The 33-year-old has allowed five runs over nine innings this season (5.00 ERA) with 10 strikeouts.
