Braves optioned RHPs Jaye Chapman, J.J. Hoover and Todd Redmond, LHPs Sean Gilmartin and Luis Avilan and C Evan Gattis to Triple-A Gwinnett.
There are some intriguing arms among the bunch, but none of them had a real shot to crack the Opening Day roster. Chapman, Avilan and Hoover could all factor into the team’s bullpen equation at some point this season, though.

Braves purchased the contract of RHP Jaye Chapman from Triple-A Gwinnett.
An expected move, Chapman is now protected from the upcoming Rule 5 Draft. The 24-year-old right-hander compiled a 2.50 ERA and 77/31 K/BB ratio over 68 1/3 innings as a reliever this season between Double- and Triple-A.

Cubs recalled RHP Jaye Chapman from Double-A Tennessee.
The Cubs acquired Chapman from the Braves in late July in a four-team trade that sent Paul Maholm to Atlanta. The right-hander won’t hold any fantasy value this year.

ESPN’s Jerry Crasnick reports that the Cubs will get minor league right-hander Jaye Chapman from the Braves as part of the deal for Paul Maholm and Reed Johnson.
Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports reports that the Cubs will also get prospect right-hander Arodys Vizcaino, who is coming off Tommy John surgery. Chapman, a 25-year-old reliever, has a 3.95 ERA and 9.6 K/9 over parts of seven seasons in the minors. He could turn into a useful bullpen piece.

Cubs acquired RHPs Jaye Chapman and Arodys Vizcaino from the Braves for LHP Paul Maholm, OF Reed Johnson and cash considerations.
Chapman, a 25-year-old reliever, is 3-6 with a 3.52 ERA at Triple-A Gwinnett this year and has a 3.95 ERA and 9.6 K/9 over parts of seven seasons in the minors. He could turn into a solid bullpen fixture at Wrigley eventually, but will function in this trade as a lower-probability lottery ticket next to the prize that is Arodys Vizcaino.

    Cubs non-tendered RHP Jaye Chapman.
Chapman was acquired from the Braves in the mid-season deal for Paul Maholm. He posted a 3.75 ERA and 12/10 K/BB ratio in 12 innings for the Cubs in 2012. While he has battled control problems in the past, he could still develop into a solid middle reliever.

Chris Cotillo of MLBDailyDish.com reports that the Blue Jays, Reds, Giants, Tigers, Nationals, Mariners and Dodgers are interested in Jaye Chapman.
Chapman, 26, missed most of the 2013 season due to a hip issue, but he’s healthy now and has two workouts scheduled for this week. He’ll soon sign a minor league deal with someone and is hoping to get an invitation to spring training. He posted a 3.75 ERA over 14 appearances for the Cubs in 2012.

Rays acquired RHP Jaye Chapman from the Brewers in exchange for a player to be named later or cash considerations.
Chapman, 29, holds a 3.78 ERA and 38/11 K/BB ratio over 33 1/3 frames between Double- and Triple-A this season. He hasn’t pitched in the majors since 2012.

Rangers signed RHP Jaye Chapman to a minor league contract.
According to FOX Sports’ Ken Rosenthal, Chapman’s deal does not include an invite to spring training. The 29-year-old right-hander last pitched in the majors in 2012. The Brewers traded him to the Rays this past July. Splitting time between Double- and Triple-A in those two minor league systems in 2016, Chapman pitched to a 4.02 ERA, 1.06 WHIP and 64/15 K/BB ratio across 53 2/3 frames. While he has little major league experience, he could potentially earn a call-up during the season should the Rangers need an extra bullpen arm.

Chapman posted an ugly 6.63 ERA and 1.72 WHIP over 36 2/3 innings this summer in the Rangers’ minor league system. The 30-year-old right-hander hasn’t made an appearance in a major league game since back in 2012.
