Jaguars signed seventh-round CB Jeremy Harris to a four-year contract.
Harris is going to have to put on some weight and get stronger, but at 6-foot-2 he fits Jacksonville’s new press-man scheme in the secondary. He also had a valuable pre-draft connection to Jaguars DBs coach DeWayne Walker, Harris’ head coach at New Mexico State. Harris will compete for a roster spot in camp.

Jaguars selected New Mexico State CB Jeremy Harris with the No. 208 overall pick.
Harris (6-foot-2 3/8, 181) has plus length for Jacksonville’s new press-man scheme, but he’s going to have to get stronger to take on NFL receivers. He did play for new Jags DBs coach DeWayne Walker in college, which will help Harris’ chances of earning a roster spot. Harris ran 4.48 at his Pro Day with a 36 1/2-inch vertical. He was a 2012 first-team All-WAC pick by the conference’s coaches.

A seventh-round pick out of New Mexico State, Harris will take a “redshirt” for his rookie year. The Jags drafted Harris because he’s pals with first-year secondary coach DeWayne Walker. Walker was Harris’ college head coach.
